First twin

I am interested in trying a twin engine design. I have a Pica Duelist, but a friend says that's not a good "first" twin. He recommends a Twin Star. My skill level is intermediate. I fly mostly low wing , Dragon Lady, Kaos with occasional biplane, Phaeton 2. Anyone have any input on this?
Thanks in advance. Happy landings, Tony.;)

RE: First twin

The Twin Star is a great first twin. I have one with two TT 40's on it and it fly's great. I have flown it on one engine with no problems. I havve seen two Pica Duelist cash on losing an engine. They are fast but not to stable on one engine. The best way to save the plane is killer both engines.

The TwinStar is an excellent first twin, except for no longer being available.

The Duellist 2/40 is also an excellent first twin for flying, but I don't recommend it as it is not a beginner's plane to build. If someone claims to have lost one due to an engine out, the real reason was something else, as it is an easy plane to fly on one engine.

The one I do suggest as a first is the Twin-Air, from Northeast Aerodynamics. It is an easy build, and seems nicer than the Duellist on one engine. But the Duellist is the better aerobat.

Enjoy your twins.

RE: First twin

Will: The building is not a concern as I am an accomplished builder. ( I build alot better than I fly, perhaps I should say rebuild ) I probably will go for the Twin Star if I can find one, or the Twin Air. Kinda like your first car, learn on your "starter" then get your "keeper". Besides I want to bash the Duelist into a sorta scale plane.
Thank, Happy landings, Tony.;)
