avro lancaster plans?
Could anyone direct me to either plans or a detailed schematic for the avro lancaster.
I have enough pictures to fabricate the landing gear and engine cowling, but a picture of the inner workings of the bomb doors eludes me. That would be a welcome bonus. I am either not using the correct search or just missing these items on the Internet. Any help would be appreciated. |
RE: avro lancaster plans?
Try this site. http://www.lancaster-archive.com/Lanc-Parts-Pic.HTM Also i live relatively close by the Canadian warplane museum which is home to an flying lanc. If need be i might be able to get some walk arounds pics for you.

RE: avro lancaster plans?
many many thanks to you. I surfed the site and even found the bomb door mechanism.I love creating the complex hinge mechanisms they used in the old days befor computer controled multi motor araratus.
this site should get me started on the little bits. >always a good winter project< I have tones of very nice static and flying pictures so a walk around wouldn't be nessesary at this point. As an offer in return I live 10 Miles from the new Air and Space museum at dulless airport in virginia. If you chaeck out there site and find an aircraft you would like some detailed pictures of please dont hesitate to ask. "They do have an almost mint FW-190"and many other older aircraft. Take a look and if you wish I would be happy to oblige. The 190 is an angry beast up close though. I think I'm done carrying on. Truely thankyou for the site. It will prove most helpful. My email is [email protected] if you do see a plane at the museum you wish pictures of. |

Thanks for the offer. I had an look at the mesum site , pretty interesting. But i'm working on an C-130 132"ws from palmer plans right now. Did you have an look at Rcwarbirds.com ? There is an lanc on there as well, in the bomber section. The gentleman made his own plans, maybe he can help you out. http://www.rcwarbirds.com/feature3.htm I think i also saw on the net some RC lancs overseas as well.

TY Canuck1. gorgeous craft you have.I hope to have my materials plan drawen up in a week, and then all hell breaks loose. To top it off darn discovery channel put on the damn busters show last nite. I'll haveto do the standard bomber though. It's all in Honor of my uncle that was shot down in a lancaster during the big one.Thankfully His surviving squadron mates have given me all I need to logo the craft exactly the way his was.
Thanks again guys, and any other thaughts please feel free to post. I always apreciate the help I get. I'm prety good with custom electronics, and can only hope to return the favor to the forum. Thanks Guys :D Bob Blurton. |

grinder-RCU. yes i printed the pages and spent half the nite scetching my butt off. Great link thanks bunches. Cant help mutch with a C-130. Had my innerds shaken to death in them in the service a bunch of times, but other than that I can't give any insider info. Give me a few weeks though and I may be able to make you a circuit that will alow you to do a bump and go cargo delivery system.Like on the mud stripps on the forward basses in vietnam.shoot deployment and roll out shouldnt be a problem with a simple timmer chip activated by a preasure switch on the landing gear. Just a thaught I'm an oldfashion build it yourself electronics guy looking to help contribute to the masses.
Thanks again. |

RE: avro lancaster plans?
Hi,
I wonder can anyone out there help me. I have recently aquired a 102" Avro Lancaster and it is an Aerotech kit ,but I can not get anyone to answer the phone at ATI.Manufacturing to get a set of building plans for same. I do however have the fuz plans etc but I do not have the wing plan or layout of where the engine nacelles actually go . If anyone can give me measurements i.e from center of wing to both centers of propshaft on the inner and outer engines I would be very greatful. Awaiting any reply. Best Regard's, Happy day's ahead[&o] |
RE: avro lancaster plans?
The scale locations are,
inner engine = 11 7/8 " outer engine = 25 1/8" From, "The Lancaster Manual" |
RE: avro lancaster plans?
ATI have stopped selling, however a guy who used to work for them many years back when they first started frequents http://www.*************.co.uk might be worth asking the question there

RE: avro lancaster plans?

RE: avro lancaster plans?
Thank you all for your input. Sorry it's been a while since I've been back to the forum.I've been away on work for a few. I spent most of yesterday making a new work area in my garage for this project, and I'm gonna spen this morning getting my supplies organized. Thanks again for all Y'alls help.I'm off to wear out my poor old printer, and get some plans and supplies in the mail. This is realy a great place for good people. I'll document as mutch as I can to help the next fellow in line making a lancaster. Turning cold around here , and I have a plane to build. Other than flying does it get any better than that.
Thanks again all. Bob blurton. Sterling Virginia.USA P.S. Darn Discovery Channel had a show on the damn busting lancasters.Darn those guys they always make me think.I'll haveto see as the build goes. the sleek lines of the standard bomber may just be to inticing to go for a damn buster configuration. |

Do you have any info on the Lancaster pictures that you posted. I am thinking of doing a larger one, and that looks about right. Are plans avail, if not I was thinking of scaling my 90in plans up. Craig. |
