Twin Seamaster
I saw a video of a float plane meet at Lake Havasu . In it was a twin fuselage model that looked much like it had twin Seamaster fuselages but not a Seamaster wing . I fell in love with the concept and borrowed a Seamaster print and built a Twin Seamaster with two Super Tiger 40's for power . It weighs near 15 pounds and flies well except at slow speeds it will tip stall .
I had a mishap the last time I flew it . Shortly after takeoff one engine stalled and upon cutting back the throttle I found the engine that was still running stayed at full throttle ( a bad servo ) . Not having any experience at flying with only one engine and not knowing which engine was still running or if there were other problems I forced it into an ugly landing . Luckily the engine stalled upon landing and we retrieved it with the pickup boat . Minor damage here and there and a bad servo . It is now ready to fly again but am thinking about adding flaps so it will be more stable at slower speeds . Any input from anyone with experience would be greatly appreciated . |

Do you have any washout in the wing tips? Washout should help the tip stall. Do you have any pic of the twin?

Using flaps and ailerons instead of flapperons will also reduce the chance of a tip stall.

Thanks for the come-back . I don't have any pics that are digital but I do have some snaps taken at a few float flies and in my back yard . No , there is no washout in the wing tips and I'm not sure I could twist the wing enough at this time to achieve any . Thanks again for the reply .

Hey I really like that,,Let me know about the tip stall, I jmight have to build one myself. Thanks Rich |
Twin Seamaster
Two things you might consider to cure the tip stall;
You might want to try putting endplates on the tips, or you could cut the ailerons at about where the yellow and silver meet, then glue the yellow portion with about 10* reflex. Nice looking plane BTW. |

Hi again Baldeagle --- The twin Seamaster has a 93 inch wingspan and a 12 1/2 inch cord .
Happy flying |

That's a really pretty plane. Looks like I need another twin float plane. How can I sneak the kit in the house??????
