Hey I just received mine a couple of days ago, I took a pic so you can see how they come. I got both sizes.

RE: Bombs............
I have been thinking about a syncronized bomb drop control unit... I will build it if more than a couple of people want it. In thinking about it a cheap 5-9gm servos at $8-10 each would be the best way to do it. This is highly custom because most planes can not handle more than 4-12 bombs. But it would be a great scale effect to pattern bomb a runway on a high flyby.
(Yes I know it has been done before)....But if there is intrest I will build a programmable unit and make it availble. |
RE: Bombs............
I'm very interested in a sequencing method for bomb drops. What do you have in mind? My bomb bay holds eight bombs that are approximately 1x6 inches. They're stacked horizontally in two rows of four. Mitch

RE: Bombs............
What I was thinking about was an electronic device that was plugged into a channel on the receiver with a two position switch. It would have five outputs and you would plug a micro servo into each output. Then when you flip the switch the first servo would rotate full throw and then every other servo would rotate in sequence after an adjustable delay from the first servo. Two bombs could be released with each micro servo and this system would support a synchronized (10) bomb drop pattern with one RX channel and five micro servos (two bombs per servo). It would be cheap. (<$40) so let me know if you are interested. I am working on a scale lighting kit too.

RE: Bombs............
The bomb drop sounds good but the way my bomb bay is built I don't have room for that many bombs. What I use is a pull rod from a servo next to the bomb bay mounted in the wing. The bombs have a hole in them and as the rod pulls back each bomb drops in sequence. Pairs would look better and I'm thinking of modifying my system to have two rods. The pull rod system is crude but it works.
Don't stop coming up with ideas.... Mitch |
RE: Bombs............
Even with one or two pull rods a sequencer would be nice so you could just operate it with a two position switch. Just let me know how many servo step you want. I guess I could make it programmable from 2-4or5 steps. With two rods would you want to operate two servos?

RE: Bombs............
My pull rods are on a slow 2 way switch so the bombs sequence themselves as the rod pulls out. The bombs are loaded side by side rather than vertically. The cycle takes about 5 seconds and spreads over 50 yards as the plane passes by. Looks very cool! Mitch
