Gaines
Full flaps would be the next thing to try also on 8 cells you where getting some good speed out of it at 60% throttle have you tried 7 cells? This would remove some weight, also you said you where coming back with half packs maybe going down the 4000 packs would reduce some more weight as well. How high is your wing loading? |

ORIGINAL: SteveD-RCU Looked nice..a little longer approach might slower down some...nice job You may be right but I've had the best luck with a steep approach and a flair right at the edge of the runway. This slows it down and usually results in a slower landing right in front of you. When we fly at Hatbox the full scale runways are so long I have a hard time judging where the imaginary edge of the runway is. The video was of the first flight of the day and I did get a bit better at hitting the mark that day. |

Wing loading with the 8cell pack is 45.38 ounces per square foot. The second underpowered Bronco came in at 47 ounces. |
RE: OV-10 Bronco 81
BTW, the reason some OV-10s tend to jump off the runway and try to climb out at a very steep angle initially is because the main gear is too far aft.

RE: OV-10 Bronco 81
Rich,
Are you selling the retracts for your52" Bronco thru ScaleTech? Also, are there any mods to your plans after all the feedback from builders. Thanks, Steve |

RE: OV-10 Bronco 81
I do my own canopies and trust me, it is not that easy pulling a quality clear part. If you want to give it a try get this book. http://www.build-stuff.com/001book_vacuum_forming.htm

RE: OV-10 Bronco 81
yeh,i never tried doing it either, but these fellows keep saying they are sitting on their models waiting......well,maybe they could spend some time to learn something new.at least its better than waiting for hell to freeze over.....just saying

RE: OV-10 Bronco 81
Hi all,
I've just finished reading through the whole thread. I am thinking of building a Bronco myself, a typical scratch build. The problem is - do you happen to know where can I buy/ download some good CAD digital plans? All I've found up to now is a small CAD plan of Bronco made for 2x speed 400 and I could probably just scale it up to a nice 81 or maybe about 100 size plane, but would appreciate any help. |
RE: OV-10 Bronco 81
Here ya go. Your not going to get CAD planes printed for much less.
http://www.airagestore.com/giant-bronco-ov-10-a.html PS it's kind of in poor taste to ask on a form in which the guy that designed the plane in the first place, who reads and responds to threads about where to get free online copies of his work. It's kind of like sending Nick Ziroli an email asking for a link to that guy on ebay that sells his plans for $3 on CD. |
RE: OV-10 Bronco 81
I believie you've misunderstood me. I do not want to steal anyone's work. I am not a thief. I was just looking for some additional drawings or any info before building a Bronco. All plans which I can buy in USA have one problem - they are not designed to metric system. There is no way for me to find in Europe balsa etc which is dimensioned in inches etc.
Anyway - it looks like I'll stick to my electric plans. Just simply scale it up a little, add some addidtional ribs and spars and so on and it should be ok. Thanks for your input. |
RE: OV-10 Bronco 81
NP Anasazi sorry. I did misunderstand you.
Hey these are just model airplanes they don't have to have perfectly dimensioned wood. Here is a fractional inch to mm chart. http://mdmetric.com/tech/cvtchtfdm.htm Just round off the mm stock you need If the plan calls for 1/8" sheet use 3mm Round lighter in low stress areas and round thicker in high stress areas. |
RE: OV-10 Bronco 81
Hey Rich
If you are still monitoring this thread, I have a question for you. The folks at Model Airplane News do not have a copy of the construction article for this plane, and suggested you might have one. Is there any chance that you might, and if so could I possibly talk you out of a copy? Do we have any word about when we might expect to get canopys yet? Thanks Ron |
RE: OV-10 Bronco 81
Hi Ron,
I'll try to scan the original M.A.N. article and make it available to those that need it as a pdf. file. The canopy and other plastic part sourcing for the 81" version seem to be making progress. After any number of attempts at a variety of suppliers, I think I've found one that has the ability, interest and equipment to do them for me at a reasonable price. Should have samples within a week, fingers crossed. To all of you I've disappointed with delays, I apologize. Will keep you all posted. Rich |
RE: OV-10 Bronco 81
Just to make a short update - for $3 on eBay I've just bought 4 pdf files - plans for a 96" Bronco. ;)
