Sorry to hear about the field CanDo, why is it closing?

Used planes are hard to sell unless someone is interested in it. I have found a few via Craigslist, but mostly they are overpriced or junk.

NIB kits or ARF's sell well on eBay or any of the online groups as long as the asking price is reasonable or its an in demand kit. Need to remember when pricing it how much shipping is as the buyer will when placing his bid in the kit.

[QUOTE=Twin_Flyer;12101774]Sorry to hear about the field CanDo, why is it closing?

The property changed owners and the new owners decided the R/C club wasn't in their new plans for the property. Unfortunately model airplanes weren't a priority. SoCal property in some areas is too valuable or too close to urban sprawl to use for a flying field. I can still fly at the desert (100 miles away) or at smaller local fields.

Carlos Murphy 09-20-2015 07:25 AM

No decals.
After about 10 years my old club Bayside R/C Club in Fremont, Ca. lost its field to the land owner Bay Area Rapid Transit "BART". BART claimed they were going to build a new BART station for their commuter trains but 12 years later and nothing has been built.

CanDo 09-20-2015 10:26 AM

Yep. Our flying field property was transferred to a university. Their tree huggers were going to turn the area into a nature preserve. 3 years later, the field's grass is dead, the frogs, deer, quail, coyotes, etc. are gone and the weeds have taken over. Occasionally a couple of folks visit for a little while, then leave. Progress!

Someone was looking for an image of YOV-10D's M-197-FLIR Fire Coupling System located at fuselage CG
and rear door immediately behind 20 cal link stores. This is the point of origin for the OV-10D NOGS/NOS in
BuNo.155395..

This is the M-197 armed YOV-10D sent to Vietnam for proof of concept trials with great success in 1971.
155395 served as a rev. mule at North American its entire service life and now sits disassembled through out
a spares warehouse at CALFIRE in Sacramento, CA.

Well, she's still flying! Next season will be her 15th! this winter I'll give her the love she's needed, recover, paint and new graphics. I want to get the nose closer to scale as well. Silly question, what scale is she? 81" ws, 1/5 or 1/7? Anyhoo, one of the OS 91's has been on her for the full ride, the other one, about seven or eight years. The stuck nose gear issue (on the video) was resolved, and I can't wait to show her off again next season! Thanks to everyone who helped early on in the build, she still a pleasure to fly!

Good stuff, love Bronco's, had 3 Rich Urovitch's, 2 glow and 1 volter.
Right now I have the big Freewing A-10 from Motion R/C waiting its turn in the shop.

Fili 12-25-2019 06:11 PM

Moving along slowly. All components are now glassed, I installed an LED landing light in the nose (why not Lol) I'm not going to go crazy with details, some panel lines and rivets, paint and Callie graphics. I'll post an update when I get closer to painthttps://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.rcu...74959e4156.jpg

Phil,
I am very much enjoying your build. I've been flying mine for about 10 years now. There is one thing you should know about a problem with the structure. I had to make a wheels up landing. I actually landed on the weapons sponsons which as you know hang below the belly. The weight of the aircraft caused the sponsons to bend up and stove in the sides if the fuselage. The repair was simple I just reinforced the interior with 1/8" light ply. The next time I landed wheels up it just scraped the paint of the sponson bottom. You are going to love flying this thing.

Desrtroeyer of Airplanes

Hi,How are you ? We were in touch years ago when I followed your build of the Great Planes P6-E,I was building one my self and thanks to you it worked out great. I see you have an OV10-Bronco.This has been my wish plane for years and now Motion is marketing a smaller ARF. But with the FAA stuff going down who knows. Do you know anything of the Motion plane ?

Bob(Bufordbob)
in Arizona.

Destroyer of Airplanes 12-29-2019 10:28 AM

Hey Bob, it is good to hear from you again. My Hawk has had it's third rebuild and is still going strong, hope yours is too. Last summer I has a chance to watch a friend fly the Motion RC OV-10 Bronco in a scale contest. The plane is amazing. I didn't get a chance to fly it. The plane managed to fly the required 10 maneuvers and at best that takes about six minutes, so it has the flying time for a reasonable flight. Although the wingspan is 10 inches smaller watching it didn't appear to be smaller than mine.

Don't worry about the FAA, buy the airplane and enjoy it.

bufordbob 12-29-2019 05:08 PM

Destroyer,
Love your saying about the number of airplanes you own and the eagle eyes of wives.Only problem is wife pays the bills and watches the credit card stuff ,lol. Cant tell you how many times I get caught .And she doesnt buy into the could be a blond or a bar, stuff.

Destroyer of Airplanes 12-29-2019 08:35 PM

Ya, I get real brave when she isn't around.

Fili 01-05-2020 05:13 AM

The makeover is almost complete. Just a few more small things to finish up before spring. Rich, Is the canopy still available?

Phil,
Did you do landing gear doors, and I missed it, I've made several un successful attempts. Just can't seem to get them right.

Anyone have any Shindin struts or Sierra retracts they would like to sell? Email me.

Twin_Flyer 04-15-2020 12:08 AM

Anyone have the 81" with gas engines? have Saito 100's on mine (not flown yet) and am considering going to DLE20's due to the cost of nitro fuel.

Thanks

CanDo 04-17-2020 05:14 PM

My personal experience is with two OS 91 4 stroke motors on my OV-10, but a friend put two Zenoah G26 motors on his bigger B-25 model. He told me that vibration was taking its toll on his plane's airframe however. I would suggest using soft mounts on your plane. I do have a DLE 20 on my 1/4 scale Nieuport 11 and it's been a reliable motor. Good luck!

Johng 04-19-2020 06:33 AM

20cc seems like a bit much for an 80" twin. Check out this 15cc gas motor that should drop in replace the 4-stroke.

I ave a set of Sierra Precision retracts available for the 80" Bronco for sale if anyone is interested.
