....I got the 2nd and 3rd flights in on my Twin Star
Sunday....and the darned thing was pulling to the
right on vertical uplines....

....is that normal.... :confused:

BTW....(heh heh heh)....I'm cruisin' along half-throttle
with the Magnum .40's....(about 80 mph) firewall the
thing....and it doesn't even slow down goin' straight
up....what a kick.... :D

No perspiration, I found your stray PM. Only 18 hours after you posted it.

And no, that pulling to the right in a vertical is not normal. UNLESS you gave in to the popular error, right thrust on the right engine with either none, or a lesser amount on the left. Then it's going to pull.

With everything dead away, and neutral controls, the twins without counter rotation should have a slight left roll as they maintain a vertical.

If you have that thrust differential, and that's what it sounds like, either live with it, add equal out thrust to the left, or bring the right in to zero.

What's more, unless you've checked it with a meter, you might have that offset thrust without knowing about it. I use the Robart's incidence meter, which also works to check thrust lines.

Actually, Dave, if it's not too bad just fly the thing and enloy it.

But a couple washers under the right side of the engine mount...

....it was kind of odd....seein' that darned thing pulling
to the right....I stared at it for a couple seconds in disbelief
before I cranked the left rudder....every plane I ever flown
that had "bocou" verticle...went left.... :rolleyes:

The Twin Star has a double offset in the motors...left
on the left....and right on the right. It's supposed to help
with the dead engine pull. But I would think that everything
being equal, and both props spinning counterclockwise....the worst thing that would happen....is the thing would pull straight.... :rolleyes:

There I go....thinking again.... :stupid:

You know....the first one went in after a dozen flights....
due to a soggy Futaba switch....I went double redundant
on thie one with Cermark switches....hopefully my luck will
be better on this one..... ;)

Twinstars are great! I have two .40's on mine and it moves pretty good, one engine climb outs are not a problem.

Sure wish I had retracts and a wood nose. Someone needs to make a kit of it with some improvements like this.

All the planes in the Duellist series allow retracts (including the 2/15 coming) and have a wooden nose. Unless you build it with foam blocks.
