Well do they work YES (one thing I do know) [&o]

I did try one but I got the center hole slightly off line so CRASH Vases over [>:] :(

I am going to use it on my modified Griffon hovercraft have some of the pictures off mark porters site ( I knew they were there somewhere just wouldn't remember where) (see pictures)

Can anyone make it easer First a way of cutting a perfect circle then a way of drawing the lines on ( see picture) then how to well mount it weather to incorporate a brushes motor like on one of mark porters or any other way EG, belt [8D]

mm that looks nice! how does it go?
does it put out enough air for the lift for a griffon sized HC?
i think that could be easily driven from a belt off a nitro engine for lift and using the prop on the engine for thrust??

could i ask for some bigger pics? please!

yer it pulls in the air out of the top in a vortex and blasts it out of the side

and no you woulden't need to have a powerfull motor for it probable a 540
would lift 7kg aparently

i had a plastic centrifuge fan similar to this and it came with a cheapo model... it was literally tearing the motor apart because it was so off balanced, i had to use teeny amounts of blu tak to try and counterbalance it, spent 3 days just powering the motor with 1 cell doing that, finally just gave up

maybe i need to make a brand new fan...

how much it lifts would depend on the rest of the hovercraft, especially the skirt

I am not shure but I would be making it out of balsa wood and have this tool to cut it it is actualy for cutting the polycarbonate shells but it dosent actualy work very well

I assume you did your homework but as I recall from HVAC design. Some advantages of various designs.

1. Foward facing blades have the advantage of a faster air air velocity than the velocity of the diameter of the wheel. They have a higer static pressure for the same rotational speed.

2. Rear facing blades are more efficient but require higher rotational speeds.

3. Airfoiled blades are more efficient and are common on the rear facing models. Higher cost with only moderate energy savings. Leading edge is always toward the center as that is the direction of air flow. From center to outside, centrifrugal right?

hmm, very nice, sorry I can't help (I'm not very good at cutting stuff either) but, how's the rest of the craft coming?

PS: this fan WILL work, I have one on my el chepo skirtless hovercraft. one of the better fans to use for a small craft is a hair dryer turbine, works great off of just 12v DC power!
