Been wanting one of these for a long time (since the last generation Blizzard), but didn't get one until now! This should be an interesting build!

Anything Blizzard (electric) related is welcome to discuss here!

Description from Kyosho's website:

Roll over any terrain with this fully functioning electric tracked machine!

Easy to operate electric vehicle cruises up steep slopes and easily rolls over gaps as it powers across the rough surfaces and etches its track marks in snowfields, sand and dirt piles. Kyosho has reproduced the distinctive “DF300” from Japan’s major tracked vehicle manufacturer, Ohara Corporation. The sophisticated mechanics of the motor control features a combination bevel gear and brake control system that produces forward, reverse, left/right turning and also pivoting (the Blizzard can turn in its own tracks) for fully operational tracked vehicle control. And all the main components are pre-assembled so only a short time is needed for the finishing touches. Only a true tracked vehicle can back-up your go-anywhere spirit and be enjoyed anywhere you want to take it!

Pics of the previous generation (still in production) - mostly identical to the DF-300 except the shell and a chassis brace.

If I like the build then I'll get me one also...;)
I wouldnt run a brushless in it, because it might not be designed for a brushless.
Run the stock motor in it and decide for yourself...[8D]

If I am not mistaken, the kit comes "almost ready to run" (most of the drivetrain assembled..) but since I will put full ballbearing on it, I'd disassemble it first I am sure!

Making it a, "build thread"?! ha ha ha!! :D

I have seen it w/ brushless setup before.. the thing would wheelie, LOL!! The drivetrain can take it!

It is more of a cost issue -> do I want to build another $500+ vehicle, ha!

(remember my Blitzer Beetle?! went from a $40 beater to what?! $500-600? ha ha ha ha!!)

I think I will start out w/ 540 silvercan first... :D

That blizzard does look sweet.

If I had $200 to blow on another R/C, that would be fun!

Various dual motor setups! I think if I am going to spend that much time and effort, maybe a single BL is the way to go! :D

I guess I am just lazy! [&:]

Ooo, wow, I really like this model. I like the look of the old shell better, though. I've always wanted to have a snow-capable RC.
I'm really looking forward to this project, LB!
I say stick a VXL system in there: they're pretty cheap, and the torque of the "M"-sized motor should propel this quite nicely.
Can you tell me a little about the chassis brace, and why it's only included on one of the models?

Lunchboxer 11-29-2007 03:12 PM

RE: LB Getting Ready for SNOW - Kyosho EP Blizzard DF-300 Thread!

This thing will be snow capable alright... (the only thing it is good for, ha!! :D)

I think I'd prefer a sensored based system in this thing... I think it will be mostly stop and go on this thing.. I am still leaning toward a Novak XBR 8.5 (in the future, maybe..) For now, I am just gonna run the silvercan.. poor LB! :D
