Default Ebay seller warning

Ordered carbon fiber landing gear from store called edswholesalewarehouse they said item was used but nothing else, looked fine in pic and was size I needed anyway it arrived and not long later noticed crack top and bottom on bend so requested return so I could locate another no big deal right? Until my wife who did the ordering gets a threatening message from this seller. edswholesalewarehouse is selling bunch of rc gear and wouldn’t buy if is was 90% off because of that message. What ever happened to customer is always right?

You're being pretty vague. Honestly, the way you write this doesn't sound right.
How did you wife get a threatening message if you were the one who bought it? Was it actually directed at her, or did she just happen to be the one who checked the email?
What was the message? "Threatening" could mean a lot of different things.

Dont you have a 30 day money back return policy if your not satisfied.
Just write and demand that you need to return the item otherwise you will open a dispute in ebay resolution center.
Just keep cool as they monitor email activity and behavior and if they find someone at fault they wont side towards the person at fault.
Otherwise disregard any threatening message and tell them that your in your rights to have the item returned back to the seller and also that you be filing a complaint in regards to the email they sent to your wife.

Yep. That's why Ebay has a dispute process. 99% of the time, Ebay's bot will ask you to return the item and give a tracking number. Once tracking shows that it arrived, they will refund your money. Demand that the seller pay for the return shipping unless you are willing to eat it.

You can demand all you like but the seller doesn't really have to pay anything to you for the return shipment. No seller ever pays for return shipment its very rare and if they did they would all go broke.
Its not in the terms of condition unless you threaten him with a neagtive feedback which they all fear due to having there store suspended. but this can be over turned quickly by the review board if they can show that the buyer is unreasonable.
Then again he will do the same with you leave a negative feed back.
Judging and going by this thread here this item has been used already and is classified as second hand so there is no merit or grounds in demanding nothing.

Paypal generally sides with the buyer. And yes, they will often get you a refund if you send emails showing that the seller is refusing to cover return shipping costs. It takes a few cycles of asking and getting the bot responses before an actual person takes 10 seconds to look over your case, but they will do it if you keep on.

That depends on what is stated on the listing before purchase that most ebay sellers have a money back guarantee policy but if there listing states that buyers are to pay for the return back fee on their own this usually wont cover their cost.
Usually and in most cases the seller's return policy in the listing determines who pays for the return postage.

If the seller's return policy states that buyers are responsible for return postage, you'll have to pay but you can choose how you'd like to send it back. You can either pay for an eBay return postage label, or use a carrier of your choice.

Yes, and Ebay's policy, following the FTC, is that buyers pay shipping for returning defective items.
However, everything is negotiable. How important is the seller's feedback rating to him? For that matter, how important is it not to be a part of a thread like this? I've asked sellers before to cover the shipping, and many will. And I promise to give positive feedback if they do. You'd be surprised what a polite but firm email can accomplish.
