Feedback on my setup...Please!

1 Attachment(s)
OK...just maidened my first EVP setup..
Using the Scott Foster EVP hub.
Axi 2208/34 motor
CC25 ESC (and Boyt it gets hot!)
TP 3S 1320mAh battery
and 4 hs-55 servos

Airframe is the Hobby Lobby Yas 55

It just doesn't have the WOW factor

I tried to set max pitch so when it is spinning the system doesn't exceed 8amps on my watt meter...
but that is barely enough to hover and NO WAY enough for reverse flight....

it slows down a bit on down lines...but no reverse

AUW with Everything is about 11.5 ounces

Attached is a picture of the setup...

any feedback??
I am using the 9C radio and I have it set up to use the Governer mode with Idle1 and normal...

Any input????

RE: Feedback on my setup...Please!

I would say the 11.5 oz. weight is the main problem[X(]. Also, if you're using a HS-55 for pitch servo it's not up to the task of
holding pitch under loads you'll see at that weight. I have a Yak that weighs about 8 oz. but it has the Ikarus unit with the less
powerful S2 motor. Personally I think the 2208/34 is too low Kv to provide a lot of thrust with those blades. I feel your pain though
if that helps. I've spent a bunch on this whole VPP/EVP thing and haven't had good results yet[:o]

so....different plane? different blades??

too heavy??

also...the blades I have are either 9.5 or 9.75 (can't remember)

I don't see the plane as the problem. Lighter components and different blades are probably the solution. Why a 1320? An 860 or
830 should do. Also play around with your pitch curves. Don't go by what the instructions say necessarily

1320 is the smallest I have.....

anyone know what the real world max amps are for the 2208/34??
bigger blades or smaller??

I'm lost on this...
and i thought I understood my electrics![:@]

It's rated at 8 amps. I think the biggest problem is the inefficiency of these basically flat airfoil blades. Lots of drag at high
pitch settings instead of more thrust.

I know it is "rated" at 8 amps... was just curious if that rating is accurate??

Hmmmm...
What to do, what to do
