GP Turmoil with VPP setup
I'm thinking about ordering the Ikarus PPS-4D motor and prop setup for my GP Turmoil foamy. Anyone using this setup? Any reason I should consider a different setup (i.e. one from Hobby Lobby)?

RE: GP Turmoil with VPP setup
I've ordered the rimfire vpp setup for my turmoil, I have no idea which is better, but we should compare notes, once they're both in the air. I presume you are going to use a heli radio?

RE: GP Turmoil with VPP setup
I got the PPS-4d and have it set up in heli mode using a Futaba 8UHS. The jury is still out on it, I need to replace the ESC with a better one. A 12A was recommended, using an ElectriFly Silver Series, but the set up pulls a little more than 12A at full throttle with no servo loads. I'm getting a Castle Creations Phoenix from www.b-p-p.com with the 3A BEC to put on it, that should help. I haven't been able to get more than about half a pack through it before the ESC shuts the motor down.
I'm thinking of getting the GP unit for a Turmoil as well. Let me know how your set up works out. -Greg |
RE: GP Turmoil with VPP setup
STILL waiting on parts... but I'll let you know as soon as I have it running (probably about 3 hours after I get the parts!). I'll be using a phoenix 25 esc. My radio is a 6exa (no heli mixing). I plan to set the throttle to the flap lever, and control pitch with what is normaly the throttle. This means I'll have to set the throttle at the beginning of the flight, and fly only with pitch; hope it works! Failing that plan, I have a simple heli radio that came with my e-sky colective pitch heli. It does the mixing but it's not a computer radio, so I'm not sure if I can make that work.
My LHS has told me the parts are back ordered, may not have them 'till early april. Still a bit cold and windy here in any case. scot. |
