Which VPP system is better?

Hi,

I would like to get a VPP System for my Ikarus Shockflyer YAK. I have two options:

- Ikarus S2 motor and VPP (this motor is the same (in looks at least) with AXI 2204/54 the only difference is colour) .

- AXI 2208/34 EVP Motor with Model Motors (AXI) VPP system.

Prices are pretty close. I assume that Ikarus option will be better for indoor as this motor is lighter.

Regarding the rest of my setup, I will be using a Castle Creations Phoenix 10A ESC + KOKAM 3s 640 mAh and Thunder Power 3s 730 mAh LiPos.

Any opinions?

Thanks and regards,

Nick

Don't know how they compare, but there is another option.

Hangar 9 /e-flight has a hollow shaft 370 and VPP prop set up out.

Real Flight G3.5 has a Great Planes flat out with a VPP on board. Flys pretty well 4d is surprisingly stable I don't know what system it is simulating though and the fact that it is a simulation kind of makes this whole post pointless.

I too cannot offer any comparison from experience, but I have decided to go with the HiMax VPP setup. Motor and VPP for $70 and I have been really pleased with the HiMax motors.

I have the Great Planes V-Pich and the e-flight hollow shaft 370 and Showstoper VPP prop and I can say the E-flite is way much better.

Good to read since I just bought the E-flite system.

And I just got my V-pitch on a rimfire. Has anyone tried this motor/prop set up?

Thats the way I have my RimFire, It came all as one unit "Motor and V-Pitch" It work but you have to keep the setup very lite, the more the better. I have mine in the RC Universe Bipe and I can only stop nose down but can't go up nose down and thats with about 13 oz. So Im sure with 8-9 oz or less will go up.

Good choice. The quality of the parts look & feel better and fly smother.

No problem. Just let me know if you have any other question with the setup.

Just wondering what to put it on that would be worthwhile for it. I have a couple of flying boat kits.......lol.

I had the Great planes V Pitch, burned the motor and the speed controller out in no time. I now have an AXI hollow shaft with a 25 amp align speed control. It works better, but still isn't perfect. Can't seem to get enough RPM out of it. Still working on making it right, but it is way better than the great planes combo.

Flyboy
You are right, the great planes combo is one of the worst in the market.
