Default Walkera 4G6 first impression

Got a package in our office this morning and it is the new 4G6!!! Lot of parts are hand made and it seems like there are going to be few changes for the product batch. The first impression is it is bigger than the 4G3. The rotor head and blades are identical to the 4G3. The main frame look very similar to the G3 but have extra reinforcement at the tail boom area. Like most 450 size heli the rudder servo is mounted directly on the tail boom and the battery been moved out front for better weight distribution. The tail feature a torque tube system, the brushless motors, esc are same as the 4G3 brushless. The total flying weight is about 90g with battery and canopy. But as mention earlier this is a proto type and I believe there are going to be a lot of changes before it goes into production.

Did you get to fly it yet?

I like the overall look, especially the extra reinforcement for the tail boom. Looks like a mini 450 heli lol.

Is that a shaft-driven tail off the main gear? I can just see a crown gear on the tail in one of the photos, but you said it has BL motors? So where are they hiding the tail motor.
Can a 4g3 be converted to the pitched tail set-up, I like that alot!!

The tail is driven off directly off the main gear so there is only one BL main motor. Sorry as there are a lot of changes from the 4G3 I don't think it is possible to upgrade a 4G3 to 4G6.

We received the production sample today. Compare to the proto type they change the boom support slightly and it is clear to see there is a serperate HH gyro. It work very similar to the 401 as you can select HH or normal mode and set the gain on you tx.

I just saw the first Walkera 4G6 to be tested in the USA from www.wowhobbies.com at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6Ztw-3CdoXA. It's an awesome little gismo and I'm sure they have yet to push the 4G6 to its potential because Walkera has only a few proto-type and no body is going to risk crashes with 4G6 parts on hand. Time to bring out the Champagne guys, it's going to be "the" break through model that will be equivalent to a t-rex 450. There isn't really any other major improvements left on the Walkera 4G6 because it's basically the same as a much larger T-rex 450, 600, 700. Every pilot will want one or may be two.

I vote for the 2-Cell (2s) version for sure. There is no way that the Walkera 4G6 can operate effectively with 1-Cell cause there is just not enough power or flight time.
The 4G6 is going to be a very intricate piece of machinery and so many things can go wrong with it. Now when I buy Walkera stuff on-line I always look in the "About Us" or "Contact Us" section to make sure the dealer is not in China or HK otherwise I'm screwed. Secondly even some U.S. dealers are garage operations with low ball prices and no service or reputation. Just make sure they have a store front or a legitimate "business address" because I heard of so many horror stories.

when is it coming out?i want one badly.this makes me mad i just bought the 4g3.but hey i like that one too.i think this one will be a better buy because of the brushless and the fact there is no tail motor and it is slightly bigger.i noticed someone said it should be 2 cell, but the best thing about the 4g3 is the fact i can charge 3 packs in series from my el cheapo e-sky 2s and 3s wall charger at a 2c rate.this is a super cheap setup for charging multiple packs. i think the prime setup would be like a 600 to 800 mah single cell.i think they will remain single cell for sure because it uses all of the 4g3 parts and the motor and servos and reciever is designed to run off 3.7v,i dont think they will be happy on 7.4v they would have to redesign everything.i hope they even use the same connector so i can keep my same super budget charging setup. looks killer.let me know the first place that scores em for sale.

I have anticipated such a machine for a while..... I really hope it is a WINNER right out of the box. I was dissapointed with the 4g3 (despite buying 2 of them LOL) Hopefully this is the "micro-bird" we all have waited for!

I think you should like it as compare to the 4G3 the 4G6 fly so much better. I like it much better than the G3 atleast it will hold the tail very well even the battery is running low.

Is the 4G6 really the better buy over the dual brushless 4g3? I'm going to buy one soon and would like to get the best one. How are parts looking for the 4G6? Where can you get the full line up? Thanks, Joe

I have seen some impressive flying on this new 4G6 on both 1S and 2S - but yes flight time is short on both - but both were on 240mAh batteries

I read that the 2S isn't that much better and only gives a slightly longer flight time over the 1S. They say it's not really worth it. The 3.7 500/600mah are more than enough. Damn I can't wait to place an order for one.

Ipulled the trigger and ordered one on Sunday from RC711. It has now been posted. Even though it is only Wednesday, the wait is killing me! :-)

I also ordred a bunch of parts (inc 3x batteries) from Terrence.

This is my 3rd "bird", started with the Esky Robins (out of commission fast), then the Lama v4 (about 2 months ago) and now the 4G6..

Thats a big jump going from a co-axial. But I did the same. I went from a Lama V3 to a Esky Belt CP v2. As long as everything is set-up right, you'll be fine and the learning curve shouldn't be that bad. Good luck.

I figure that now I can fly the co-axial without issue doing the various patterns it was time for me to give the 4g6 a shot. I am really looking forward to the transmitter. It looks great from all I can see of it. I have tweaked my Lama v4 with all the Extreme bits (inc motors) and would like to do the same with the 4g6 at some point. Hopefully Extreme and the other vendors start shipping "hop ups" soon!

From what I've read the 4G6 doesn't need any upgrades. But wowhobbies is working on a upgraded motor so it'll do tic-tocs and better/faster 3D moves.

WOWhobby is the bomb-diggidity when it comes to this sort of stuff.

REASON: they are the Walkera factory direct to USA distributor.

I love my Blade Msr, and am highly anticipating the new Hirobo CP in the 250 scale that is due out soon... if they are not as awesome as a quark, I will get a G6

The only thing I dont like about wowhobbies is they dont offer a "basic" version of the G6 and I dont feel like spending $400 on a micro. I just want the G6 with 2601 Tx and you would think they'd make a package and sell it for like $250. That would be perfect. Instead they sell the G6 with no Tx or charger for $220, why not make it RTF with 2601 and call it a day? Weird!!!

Joey, what enables the 4g6 to be so light is the fact that a lot of the programing is already encoded in the radio, eleminating the reciever and bulky circutry in the heli. Im sure it can be modified to accept an ESC and gyro and rx/tx from another company but its not really cost effective.

Id be interested to see someone try though with an airframe and some micro gear

Check wowhobbies.com. They sell it with there TurboAce motor installed and said it's awsome. More than enough power.
