just bought a leopard A-4 off E-bay 70's ventage single motor set up. Had no radio. Need a recomendation on which direction to go with this project. The tank has not been run. Has no turret electrics, that way from factory,no sound and an old style speed controler and is missing 1 machine gun.
Thanks greg

Hi Greg ,
It depends on if you want to keep the clutch steer gearbox or replace it there are lots of replacement parts and upgrades available the best place is a german company afvmodel heres a link to the leopard pages http://www.afv-model.com/4711shop/in...Leopard-1.html

thanks for the reply. Don't know what i'm going to do about the drive train. It is a 1 forward 1 reverse set up. I think a good 4 channel radio and some kind of speed controler 1st. Turret eletrics next. any advice on these items ? Thanks

Hi Greg,
You have a super tank, and fun to drive. Pretty unique too. I bought a used 1a4 for 100 bucks a few years back as my first tank. I completely restored it with much help from Tom Zhang (www.tomsrctanks.com). Tom has pics of my a4 and one of his own on the website.
On mine, we installed a gun elevation kit, and a turret traverse kit. We also installed a wireless camera in the searchlight housing. Very cool!
Most importantly, Tom sells parts for them, and can help you. Of course the german model shop previously mentioned is a source too.
I recommend that you make it work first (radio and speed controller if needed), then you can fix it nice. Guys that upgrade this model big time use a Tamiya Pershing guts, so you'd need to cannibalize a Pershing kit to do your upgrades.
Hope this helps!

Just got off the horn with Tom. Looks like he has what I need. If you can please call me at 270-827-3252. Any other tips you may have would be great.
Thanks Greg
