Default Transport Truck

Hi, I am new to this forum. Have a Tamiya Leo full option coming my way any day now. And was thinking of a suitable transport truck/tracktor. Do you guys have any tips on this subject? What about SLT 50-2 Elephant in 1/16 scale. Anybody seen one, and where to get one.

funny you should mentions a transporter.

[link=http://www.customrcmodels.com/id186_tank_transporter.htm]Wild Willy's Tank Transporter[/link] in this link the top few pics are a bruder trailer. lower few are a custom low boy with its own steering, and lower is a wedico trailer. (wedico = more $$$ then tamiya). the trucks are the 1:14 tamiya semi trucks with a bigger motor and a gear reducer built in.

I have the bruder trailer and the truck it comes with, but i need to get a tamiya truck or something similar and the controls for it.

I just found this http://www.sonderfahrzeug-modellbau.de/produkta7.htm but it is really expensive. 2100 € unbuild and unpainted. But its perfect otherwise.

How on earth can they justify the price tag... I'd want 1/4 scale for that kind of money!

the price is cause of what its made out of. those robbe (or how ever it is spelt) axles are 100 for each front + 100+ for each rear. the through shaft axles cost allot. Only other reason i can see is that it is made completely out of metal, and looks like it would take allot of time to make all the pieces for the truck alone.

no way i would spend 4k cad on a 150-200 dollar tank.

Tell me about it! It xtremely expensive. But I really like the authentic piece to my Leo, anyone know about a similar kit in plastic or plastic/metal version. I am a metal sheet worker daily and bet I could make one myself under the price tag on that one. But sure is a lot of work. Must be someone here who know about or own something like this. This is th war room is it not??

that site is obviously Japanese and that would be in yen. umm roughly 100 yen to a dollar. use the XE currency converter etc to find your prices.

also google translated : http://translate.google.com/translat...Fpid%3D3513547

if you search the forum there is a thread about a tamiya globe trotter semi that the guy painted it and the trailer up all army colors. looks real good. google up some modern day tank transporters and see what you can find.

Was wondering how well and what scale tank will fit on the truck and trailer you have there in the picture. Is that your plan,to make it into a tank hauler. Will you give it a military color paint job. BIGMIG

I wonder if Willy will ever mass produce his M26 dragon wagon and trailer. That would be a nice kit!

Big Mig: it is a bruder brand and it says on the box 1:16 scale but the truck is obviously larger cab wise. id say the the cab is 1:14 or 1:13 scale. On Wild Willy's site you can see the trailer and you can tell from the wheels that he cut appart the 5th wheel part of a truck. that is no biggie. you can sell the cab to scale rc 4x4's. they gobble them up like candy.

Anyhow. the jeep assembly pictured here is the 5th wheel and the rear 2 axles from the truck. he mounted them on a metal frame and hooked up a hitch.

also noticed today the box on his semi is from a bruder truck to.

The guy did a fantastic job on that truck and trailer. But I was thinking more of one having the military color's and looks. That would stand out like a sore thumb with a military collection. It would look more like a civilian company transporting a tank. But like I said the truck is a great looking rig, super job done on it. mind you its all flat grey. nothing really painted. I would paint it military camo or I would go very commercial and have all the logos and extra stickers etc on it. I like the idea of the civilian company moving the tank etc. I have seen convoys when in the USA of civilian companies moving tanks and military equipment. I would go with a knight rider or the globe trotter and instead of using a "ball or pintle" hitch that his trucks kinda uses, I would have it arc up like the trailers do to a semi truck and use the tamiya semi truck's natural hitch. Then on the [link=http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dolly_%28trailer%29]Jeep (aka Low Loader Dolly)[/link] you could make a small deck or such for storage.
Example: the dolly in this picture. site shows the dolly alone is 250$. it is wedico brand.

[link=http://www.gardentrucking.com/Trailers.tpl?cart=11955916729699379]Garden Trucking's site trailer section[/link] <-- trailer in thread is here. $490 for trailer, $225

Anyhow i can't find the thread with the nice globe liner all painted up with the flat deck behind it. looked suburb.

Yup that is close to what i was thinking. one i saw on here was a cab over but its the same. looks like a king hauler with the MFU in it (well worth it) and it is the bruder trailer like i have. he has put the trailer light kit from tamiya into it to.

Attached: how NOT to do it.
