So I was surfing eBay and I came across these tanks called WSN 1/16 scale RC. I just want to know if any of you have any and what they're like. I can't find any reviews on them, and I want a top quality tank. They're quite pricey and I don't want to waste my money it it's no good. I will stop posting so many new friends after this, I just want to find a good rc tank. Thank you for your patience and help.

You'd have to buy a Tamiya if you want a top quality tank.
It drives like a dragster as it only has two speeds - Stop and 100mph. The controller is crap press a button makes the turret rotate one way, release and press it again and it goes the other way, same goes with the gun elevation. Also makes a crappy sound when you press the fire button.
Having said that he WSN is a good tank it's just that the electronics suck. Most people strip out the electronics and replace them (even Heng Long electronics are an improvment).
If you're prepared to spend some time (and money) on it then it can be made into a top quality tank but out of the box it's too toy like.
My nephew loves mine (hes 5) but I'm just waiting to modify it.
(Edit- Dyslexic keyboard)

Right, thanks for that. Any idea where one could purchase a tayima tank in the UK? I know they roughly sell for over £200 (then again I have seen some for over £500). I'm guessing ebay would be my best bet.

My Feedback: (1)

WSN has potential but there is much work to do between WSN and Tamiya. You can see what I had to do.....

Wow, those tanks look great guys. I don't suppose anybody is willing to do the work for an extra fee huh?
My father and I are looking for 2 good world war 2 tanks to battle each other with. Problem is he feels it's a waste of money so it means I have to use my own money. What would be the best thing to get on a low budget (not as low as heng long)? A VsTank Tiger and Sherman, or WSN Trumpeter T34 and Tiger? Thanks a lot.

Yep, that is what I queried about, by the way what does WSN stand for? I read somewhere it was WASAN or something. Not sure. Sorry for being a noob, I'm sort of new to RC-ing. Also, why is the turret so big on the right side T34?: http://web.mac.com/ethandunsford/DAK...Project.html#1

The first T34's (T34/76) were armed with a 76mm gun and a 3 man turret. Later on they were upgunned to an 85mm gun (T34-85) and had a bigger 4 man turret.

Right, thanks for the info guys. What does WaSaN stand for? And 1 last thing, i didn't mean to put 'top quality' tank in my OP, I meant a standard, good quality tank.

Not sure what WSN stands for, but my understanding is they are the RC division of Trumpeter Models. They had static T-34, then it looks like they based the RC version on a simplified version.

The WSN T-34/85 is a great tank so long as you take out the RC internals. I did what the other person did and installed the HL electronic which you can get at Matotoys for around $35 (transmitter/receiver, speaker, smoke unit...) I even jerry rigged an airsoft unit in so I could battle my HL 1/16 Tiger, Panzer III, Stug III, Jagdpanther, and now my HL King Tiger. It's a great tank because its a little bit like a model so there is some assembly required. You can paint/detail them and there is a wide selection of decals from Archer Dry Transfers. I even got the Matorro Metal tracks installed(which really completes the tank) Once I figure out how to downlaod pictures here I get some posted.

Right, well I've pretty much decided to save some money and just convert a static model. What scale tank should I get? From what manufacturer? Where can I get the electronics? Is it possible to put in turret rotating electronics? And how much will all this cost? I just want to start off with something basic and not costly like Marui or tamiya. I saw this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_aSrTHvxAak
Sorry about all the question and any time of yours I have wasted. Thank you very much for being so accommodating and helpful.

OK thanks. I kinda forgot to mention that I live in the UK so I'm not sure how I would get to those. Where can I buy a 1/16 model kit in the UK? I tried model zone but couldn't find anything bigger than 1/35 scale. Also would anybody mind if I added them on aim or msn for a little extra help? Thanks.

Both do static 1/16th kits.
Edit. Nearest Antics shop (as against online) to you would probably be Guildford.

Thanks, I checked out those sites and I was wondering, could this be the tank in the video I posted? http://www.anticsonline.co.uk/676_1_1036915.html
Is it possible to use a 1/35, 1/25 or 1/24 scale model?
Right, I've messed you guys around enough know, and I really do appreciate your help. Here is a list of things the kit must have so you know what I would like, hopefully it will make things easier and save us all some time.
-Looking for a churchil, cromwell, panzer III, panzer IV, panther or tiger 1 (or something else if none of the above are avalible)
-Must have rolling wheels (duh)
-Must have moving tracks (duh again, could just add fuijmodel tracks)
-Must be the right scale to house electronics for movement ( and moving turret electonics if it will fit, probably 1/16)
-Where to buy in the UK
-Bellow £100 (if possible)
You people have been very good to me, and I appreciate it a lot. Thank you all.

The academy remote control are usually wires back to a battery box that you hold, not radio. They are adaptable to radio control (i think i've seen someone posting about this - try a search) but you'd have to buy all the extra bits and work it out yourself.

Try the Forces of Valor RC Panzer IVs. I was able to modify one quite easily. I have pics posted here. It runs great.

Oh right. Is this a ready made RC panzer IV that you upgraded yourself?
IS it possible to use a 1/35 scale model? Does anybody have the dimensions for this scale?
Thanks again.

There are the tamiya 1/35 RC tiger and king tiger. You can get upgraded tracks. There are certain 1/35 tanks with dual motors that you can put RC electronics in. the tanks are quite small though. I will probably be upgrading another RC Panzer IV. What functions were you hoping for for your tank.
