A friend of mine ran across that in Dec '05. I posted it on Armornuts forum and got the following response back...
It is a 155mm M109 Paladin in a German Army ballistics test chamber.

That's not a silencer,it's more like a loudner.
Remember that bit from one of the "Police Squad" films with Frank Drebbin(Leslie Neilson)[sm=lol.gif][sm=lol.gif][sm=lol.gif][sm=lol.gif]
He screws a big can onto the end of his gun and a guy asks if it's a silencer and Frank Drebbin say's "no,it's a loudner",pulls the trigger and makes one helluva boom with it.
I laffed my socks off.
