Yes I saw your tanks in the window yesterday. Great paint jobs. My Panzer III was due on the 3rd. I'm still waiting. I did pick up a Vstank Leo 2a6 from a guy in St. Catharines yesterday. Gonna repaint it and let my daughter drive it around.

The Panzer III's are great tanks. You may want to upgrade the airsoft unit to make it much more enjoyable to use. I'm just in the process of finishing up a HL Jagdpanther. It's starting to look quite nice. I'll post pics when its done and probably display it at the hobby shop as well.

And try and convince the higher powers at Niagara Central Hobbies to start carrying 1/16 RC Tanks. I don't suppose you are the one who cleaned them out of Tamiya Panzer yellow eh?

Do you order your Airsoft units from Toyeast?

Hey Guys!

I live in Southern Ontario, Near St. Catherins, and saw your thread. It would be awesome to see a Tank club! I would love to join, but currently I don't own anything. I am however going to start, hopefully soon, making my own tank. I'm thinking of around the size of an 1/18th scale. I have most of the stuff, but need to start making it. If this club does come through, I would like to be part of it.

Also, this is my first post. But look for another post in the Tank Section about my new project,

Tim,

I suppose I did clean out the Hobby shop of the Dark Yellow paint. I've been waiting for the clear flat and clear gloss for several weeks. Ran into the same problem in the summer (no dark yellow) I had to use sand yellow instead on one of my tanks. As for the airsoft unit, I had ordered 20 units from HL (the older yellow cap motors) when I got my KT from China. The newer replacement units with the blue caps cannot be upgraded like the older ones can. I did pick up several VS guns from toyeast awhile but again, they only have limited ablity to be upgraded. The ones that come stock with the HL tanks luckily are the yellow cap ones. We should probably get together (along with the other local guys) and start sharing info. We could call it the "Niagara Chapter" of the Ontario RC Amour Club (or what ever it ends up being called.

How about a Meet and Great More Central

How about in the Burlington Area ? That way people from T.O and Niagara can meet. We could talk about the club, set it up with I guess " Rules ", code of conduct etc.

What do you all think ?

Look Forward to your replies, George Tonkovic from Hamilton

George,

Do you know of somewhere specific you would like to meet?

I think Thomas was trying to get the Niagara guys together since we live pretty close.

Hmm, what about me?

Yeah, I'd be interested, but like I said before, I have to make my tank, and see if I get my parents permission. I just need to know where, when all that good stuff.

If your talking about meeting at NCH, I've never been there, I shop at Rad Toyz, but I've passed NCH a few times, so I do know where it is.

Well, Its on Lake Street. Go here (http://www.radtoyz.com/about.html) and there should be a map. If that helps at all. The main reason I shop there, is because I race my Cars at there tracks. Check it out one day, its cool.

Reg. First Meeting

I thought that since there were tankers towards T.O and beyond, we should think of a Central Meeting location as in the Burlington Area. Not too far to travel from Niagara area and T.O area.

We could pick something like a Restaurant, could even make a deal with the Management, if enough members show up regularly. We might get use of a small section of the room to meet etc. Who knows, a 10 + number of people, order from menu and talk about club. Good for the restaurant and for us. We could try that Once, if the Management won`t deal Or help, well then there are other places next time and they lose business.

OR

Is there somewhere in the Middle between T.O and Niagara, that we could meet to setup this Group and have show and tell ? Parking and Location and be able to handle a group. That could then be a monthly meeting location.

Like to see your opinion BUT please, if its a Hobby Shop, well there are not too many and the Niag. guys like St. Caths. but its a little too far for the T.O guys. We should try to keep in the middle So at the start, there are No bad feelings from anyone. People are people you know. I am in a few clubs and I have experienced that when it comes to " why have the meet here, not there " . We should try from the start to have a Middle location to encourage everyone to attend. Then that could become a regular meeting point.

Let me know your suggestions.

Thanks, George from Hamilton

P.S. Please don`t take any offence to me putting these suggestions up, others started this club suggestions before me. I just don`t want to see a possible point of tension
between the Niagara people and the T.O people etc.

I agree, Burlington is somewhat central and a junction to a number of major highways. The guys from Niagara can car pool it.

Yeah, I should be good with Hamilton way. But I just remebered that we may be moving up the street. And we are going to have some more property, enough to make a LARGE battle field. I've even started the plans for an RC Car track that I'm making. I just thought I would tell you that. But I won't make a battle field, unless I really get into RC Tanks.

I am cool with Hamilton or Burlington. I'd like to bring a few tanks along for the first meeting, so maybe a place where we can run them would be good (like a parking lot or something). Often Church halls or Legions have space that can be rented for a minimal price ($50).

There is also a hobby show in the Seaway mall in Welland (15min south of St. Catharines) that we could maybe do some indoor stuff at. I'll make some inquiries.

Any other suggestions for a name?

My Ideas:
O.A.K. (Ontario Armoured Korps)
S.O.A.K. (Southern Ontario Armoured Korps)
P.O.R.K. (Panzergruppe Ontario Rc Klub)

When's the hobby show in Welland? How many tanks do you have now? Did you get your Panzer III yet?

Thomas,

I am expecting the Panzer III tomorrow, have everything ready to break in the gears and build schurzen but I still need a cooling fan and parts for the exhaust.

There is a RC Trumpeter T-34/85 on the way too.

Also, I began to repaint my Vstank Leo 2a6 today. Problem is I can't find any good pics of Leo 2s in Afganistan.

As for the Seaway mall hobby show, its at the time when the RC Flyboys are in the center court (I don't know when that it, perhaps I could contact the RC club). We could probably get an area in one of the other courts set up. I know the marketing manager there.

Sounds like you have some projects that will keep you busy. I have some extra decals for a 1/16 T-34 if you need any. They are the Archer Dry Transfer. They even give a pic of where they go and a reference guide (which I have most of the books. The T-34 is a great tank. You just need to get rid of the electronics.

Thanks for the decals Thomas. I am going to give the T34 HL S&S board, smoker, transmitter, DBU/C, maybe a metal gear box once the plastic one dies. I'm not sure about metal tracks.

I've got a t-34 (put the smoke and sound board in - Sound no smoke). Even retro fitted an airsoft unit in. I'll have to show you. Metal tracks are great. I left the stock gear box. Seems to be fine for this tank.
