3 flights today, maiden took 2 clicks down and 2 right, had to deal with cross wind all day and the Cap handled it like no other plane I've flown before. Harriers are solid no wing rock inverted harriers are a piece of cake. Snaps, [sm=confused.gif] did someone say Caps are bad for snapping, not the Wildhare Cap. The 85â€Cap is a keeper. Another great plane Tom! [sm=thumbup.gif]

I told you so!
They fly so steady and solid, does all the 3d stuff with nary a complaint, pretty much a flawless flight envelope.
Jood job Jeff, thanks.

To be honest, and at the risk of hurting sales of the newer planes, I prefer the Cap right now. But I have not flown the new Extra with all the changes done.
We have modified the tail group on the Extra by moving the h-stabs forward and pulling the elevators in so they are tucked against the fuse sides like a Cap. This should lend a lot more stability and control to the plane. I'm shooting for a plane that can do pattern AND 3d without flaws.
They all fly good, I learn more with each effort.

Tom, to a novice does the Cap sacrifice precision? I still want good 3D but am starting to learn Imac and working on flying more precise. Will the Cap still deliver in this area?
Thanks
Thanks

But my experience so far is that it's hardly different from our Extras, especially the 300LX, and it flies IMAC stuff just fine. I am no pro, I struggle like everyone else, but I would not hesitate to use the Cap in IMAC.
For IMAC you primarily want a plane that doesn't do stuff on its own, you want it to do what you tell it and nothing else. Flying the patterns is hard enough without having to fight with the airplane.
For example when you pull to a vertical line you want it to go straight up. You don't want it to fall off in any direction, you don't want to have to steer it, it should hold the line you established. No plane is perfect and there is wind to account for, but the less the plane does wrong the easier your job will be.
The Wild Hare Cap is as true as anything I've flown, it pretty much just does what you ask without a lot of imrovisation.

RE: 85" cap 232
Thanks Alot Tom, one last quick question, does the 91" fly much better? I am thinking of selling my DA50 and getting either the ZDZ80 or 3W80 to put into the 91". How does it balance with these engines, and is it worth going for the extra 6" ?
Thanks.
Thanks.

Well it's more than just longer wings. The chord is longer for more wing area (1520 vs. 1350), the 91" wings are sheeted foam which is what makes it a little heavier but a lot stronger. Also the wing tube is located farther back in the wing so the balance point is farther forward, this makes it balance better with a heavier engine. It also comes with a CF wing tube to handle the heavier loads.
I'd say either engine will be a real rocket, everything you do involving throttle will be fast and furious.
There's not any real difference in the way it flies as long as it's balanced the same as you would balance the 85" version.
