Default 50 CC 232 weights?

Been hovering on the edge of pulling the trigger on a new 50cc plane for the last mo or so but need a plane that comes in UNDER 16lbs preferably lighter as I have a cpl 45cc engines that really need a 16lb or lighter plane for acceptable 3D type performance.

Im kinda down to the new Extra or the Cap with my preferance being the Cap if its a sub 16lb plane. Tom has it listed at 8.75lbs which would put me at or under 16 lbs with a decent setup.

My 45s are 6-8oz lighter then most current 50cc stuff so I might even be less then that.

Question is what are you guys coming up with weightwise? Is that a realistic # or are they running heavier then that?

Is the Yak too small an airframe for you? People are saying these are coming in around 15.5lbs with a DA50, and are good 3d platforms. Depending on the 45, this may suffice for you. I'm planning the Yak and MVVS 45. We have a 7kg weight limit in Australia. Anything above it needs an inspection. No big deal, but sufficient to attempt the lower weight.
Good luck.

The Yaks a little small for what I have in mind. A yak at 15lbs has a much higher wingloading then a cap at 16.

With an engine 6 oz lighter an losing the wheel pants would drop me down into the high 15s which is where I need to be. This is what I like to hear!

If you want something in the 50cc class and you're willing to put forth an effort to do a high class set up for the controls, the CAP is the ticket.

Dan,
I have the CAP with a much heavier engine. I have no doubt its what you're looking for, set up light. In fact, I'm thinking seriously about getting a lighter motor for it. I've had mine since early spring and its proven to be a nice model for this size class. It flies great with my G62, but its just too heavy for good 3D performance.
