Hey Jeff,

So you and your room mate don't get into a fight, just have Tom send it to me. I'm about to add my name to that list as well

Where is St. Helens, OR? I need a place to fly up that way. I'm in Bingen, WA, across from Hood River, OR quite often for extended periods of time. I was figuering on taking the Edge with me when I went up again.

Jeff,

never mind about sending it to me I just called Tom a few minutes ago and pulled the plug on the Sukhoi as well.

Here's the plan for mine

DA100 or BME 115
5985's for the wings
5955's for the elevators and rudder
Canisters if it's possible
Fromeco 2400's all around 2 for the receiver going through the Smartfly reg and into the Smartfly Xpander and one for the ignition
PT Model prop
Petes CF spinner

HAHA!! right on bubba!! it looks to be a sweet plane for sure. I was contiplating on getting a BME 115 but a freind of mine who has flown both said that they are a little more finicky , and demand a really well baffled cowl. I think i may be going with the 3W 106 . It's going to be either one of those for sure. I like the DA as well , don't get me wrong , i have seen them run and are excellent engines. For some reason i have always liked the look and performance just a hair more with the 106.

And PAT..DUDE! i didn't know you come up this way. actually i beleive your about 1-1/2 hours away from me. I also beleive our feild is a great one. We have memeber's that drive from portland and washington area , up to an hour away. All our guys here are really kick back too. You might know a guy by the name of "Ron Good" , who fly's alot with us and also at the canby feild we're Kyle W. fly's. Also , a guy by the name of darren Brooks who's been flying heli's for about 25 years , and can fly the crap out of an airplane as well. It would awesome to have you come fly with us this summer. just write me , or something , and we'll make it happen.

As far as the Sukoi goes , my setup will be........

3W 106 CS or BME 115
5985's for wings if they'll be strong enough
5955's on everything else but throttle
dual cans for sure!!
Vess prop's
CF spinner.

It sound like we may be getting our planes about the same time Bubba.....that's cool! I'll post some build pics with mine , and i'm definetly going to read through the build threads. OMG! , i can't friggin wait!!

Jeff, I work up there when I'm working at "home". It's doable for sure.

Yea, the 106 in the CS version is a beauty, I have the 80xi in the CS version and the copper color is outstanding

Who knows I may do the 106 as well if AI still has the sale going on when I'm ready

The 5985s will be plenty for the alerons. I used 5955's on mine just because i wanted the stornger gears and felt like they would still be around if I ever needed to move then to another airframe. Now that I have flown the Sukhoi I can't imagine ever moving them. You guys will absolutly love this plane!

SS........When do you plan on coming up again this way? As you know , weather here in Oregon is really friggin' weird in the winter. It's been weird for the last 5-6 years. Check this out , three days ago , it was sunny and 65* , yesterday clouds rolled in , and down poured hail!!!......go figure. You mentioned you have a smaller edge of some type. Is it the WH 28%? If you can pack that thing along on one of these nicer weekends , we'll hook up for sure and go flying. I still have almost two months before that sukoi will probably be here , so i'm collecting all the rest of my electronics and ect......so i can get it put together when it get's here. Also....If you "can" , try and schedule it with me a few weeks in advance , because i can drive to portland somewhere and meet you up off of hwy 84. That's the hwy that comes into portland from the dalles , (depending on the way you come in). I'm a contractor , and do remodels , addition's and patch and repair in the wonderfull world of drywall , and right now , i am so slammed , i'm working 12-15 hour days , 7 days a weeK!!

Bubba......I sold my 33% yak to my room mate gary , and that is the same motor he just bought for it too (80XI-CS) they are supposed to great little motor's. I'm really leaning towards the 3W 106 , mailnly because they are supposed to be a little more "newb gasser" freindly , which is exactly what i am. This plane is going to be a learning curve for me , but i'm not worried.

*** also....on a side note : Last night i took a magnifiying glass and a flashlight , and was checking out the exaust ports of the 3W80 CS , and to be honest , i wasn't thrilled with the ports. I have been around ported engine's and modification's on 2 stroke motor's for over 25 years , and the grinding and polishing on those ports we're disgusting. I am thinking of taking the jug off , and running it up to my engine builder "Ainsley modification's" and having him do a quick little clean out on the ports. Honestly , on those exaust ports , a person could clean those port's up exactly like they are in about 10 minutes. From all the years in racing MX , i know what a ported motor is supposed to look like , and i know what a "cleaned" up motor looks like........the 3W 80 CS isn't really even cleaned up. I can see where they opened the ports up a little at the very tail end of the exaust before it exit's the jug going into the exuast maniflod , but "before that" eep inside the port's , is still really rough. It's no big deal really. I am not going to have him change , or port the motor out , but i'm going to have him just clean them up to smooth. On our older 250 2 strokes , if someone just took the time to clean all the burr's off from the casting and polished them all up in the exaust ports and power valve area , you could gain 3-4 HP over a stock motor.

Sailing 1.........I was contiplating on weather i should use the 5955's , but i think your right , the 5985's should work for the wings. I was going to read through the entire build thread on the sukoi before i purchase anything really. I'll get whatever most recomend as long as they are Hitec.
