Thanks Lee for the well wishes, it went flawless. 3 flights in today and all i can say is AWESOME!! It was truly a blue sky day. Thanks Tom for an AWESOME aircraft.
Great to hear about another good maiden flights. This is a great airplane.
I wish I could fly but I'm laid up with shoulder surgery and probably will be out for the season. If we have good weather in mid November maybe I can get some flights....right now I'm kinda bummed. I was having a good year for flying....dang it.
Thanks
Barry

Just a quick one for people.
Karbonite gears in servos, are they good for Gas planes of 50cc size
Lee
In my opinion Karbonite geared servos are good for nothing. My personal experience was terrible.
Thanks

They are OK on smaller planes, but from 50cc up stick with metal gears.

Thanks to you chaps.
At my local Hobby Shop ( 350kms away) its a bit hard to explain and you always need a reason to say why something is no good, so thanks for the help.
Hey this weekend we are having the official opening of our flying field, with its now 110mters bitumen strip and a new all weather accsess road shade structure etc ( way to deadly)
will post a pic

"3D Or Die!!" they said.

I had to go and choose the latter option.

That looks repairable to me, I've fixed worse than that. How long is your winter there?

Sorry to see that! You'll get it rebuilt.
I had a wheel come off mine one day, and I didn't see it, not a very pretty landing! Doh! It ripped the landing gear out and broke the engine box in half just in front of the wing tube. She's back up and going now.
Good luck on the rebuild!

Thanks, Jim! I'm actually rather looking forward to turning her into a Bonhomme Edge.

Just dawned on me guys, where do you fly? I go up to TN about twice a year to fly with one of my buddies, he lives in Hendesonville and we travel to Bowling Green to fly the larger planes.

No intent to be 'rude" here..and I know I started all this..but we should probably move any further discussion of my specific incident over to the [link=http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_9233482/anchors_9233482/mpage_1/key_/anchor/tm.htm#9233482]crash & rebuild thread[/link], and leave this one for support of the aircraft, as intended.

My apologies for leading it astray, Tom.

I know, I know...I'm the one who said we should take crash discussion to the other thread. But this is a bit more "general" to this airplane and WildHare, so I think it's appropriate.

The subject of ARF quality came up, indirectly, in my crash/rebuild thread. I wanted to share some thoughts here for those considering a WildHare product.

From the day this bird arrived, I was struck by what appeared to be quality and craftsmanship throughout the airplane. Parts fit, and fit WELL. There were no gaps, sloppy work, or forced assembly. The design looked strong, but very light, with reinforcement everywhere it was needed, but ONLY where it was needed. The wood appeared to be high quality, and well selected.

Through 100+ flights, as much as flying an airplane can, these initial thoughts were confirmed. The plane holds together well, it's reliable and trouble free, and it flies exceptionally well.

Having now had a chance to pull the covering off, and really root around in the construction and engineering of this bird, I can say that again, early impressions have been confirmed. As I go through the airframe, I'm finding clean, precise joints...I'm finding quality wood...I'm finding components that on other birds would have blown to bits that stayed together on this airplane...I'm finding engineering that's creative, sound, and strong.

In short, Tom, you sell an EXCEPTIONALLY well engineered, well designed, and well made product. There's reasons this airplane flies like no other, and they are evident during this whole experience.

I'll second that. When I dug into mine there weren't any bad glue joints and the fit was top notch!
My Extra has a crap load of flights on it, over 40 gallons through it, and is still tight and sound. It'll last as long as my thumbs allow it to!

Thank You, I wish I could take all the credit. But realistically with good news and bad, all I am able to do is to try to control the builder and get them to do a good job. Sometimes they still sneak through a shortcut or a mistake, but I've got them down to a very small number.

I'm really glad you are please with what you find, I'll keep trying to improve the breed.
