DA 50/Edge Props
Just starting on my 7th gallon with my Edge and wanted to know if anyone was using a 24X8 or a 23X8 prop and if so how does it compare to a MSC or Menz 22X8..Of the latter I prefer the 22X8 MSC for 3D/IMAC but have heard some good things about the 24X8 and 23X8..
Thanks |
RE: DA 50/Edge Props
so far I like my DA50 with a Menz 24x8 in my 28% Extra 300LX

RE: DA 50/Edge Props
I like the characteristics of my mejzlik 23x8, great speed stability for IMAC style stuff and works well for 3D as well.

RE: DA 50/Edge Props
working with an NX 23x8.......pretty impressive downlines, pulls well.
All in all ...very happy. |

What RPM are you getting out of the MSC 22-8?

RE: DA 50/Edge Props
I am very happy with the NX 22x8 during break-in, very stiff props without the usual flexing that wood props have. I can't wait to get finished with that 4th gallon and switch to Amsoil and the NX 23x8...should be awesome! :D

RE: DA 50/Edge Props
My prop of choice on the DA 50 is the Menz 22 x 8 or if the supply is dried up the NX in the same size is a great substitute. The Menz 24 x 8 is a bit large for the 50 IMO but the engine will swing it but the rpm's will be down, mine makes about 6600 on the 24 x 8, about 7200 on the 22 x 8.
Dick Hanson has posted often on the subject and if you call DA they will repeat his sentiments. Two strokes need to rev for max power and running too large a prop is counter productive towards that goal. If you want to 3D anything but the lightest airframes with this engine stick with the smaller props that will allow the rpm's to stay up. |
