Propellers, some visual comparisons

1 Attachment(s)
I was going through the shop this morning a looked at a pile of propellers and thought I post a couple of pics for comparison purposes.

The 4 propeller group are all 50cc props. With the exception of the "No Limits" which is a 22-10, they are all 22-8. I don't need any guff about the tips of the Mejzlik, OK? I have a Zinger 22-8 here as well, but due to the differences in performance with the others I've been using it to stir my house paint in a 5 gallon bucket. I'll post a picture of the Zinger if anybody absolutely, positively needs to see one.

The 3 propeller group are for a 100cc twin, and starting with the MSC are 26-10, Menz 27-10, and Biela 28-10. Personally I pretty fond of the performance of the Biela props.

My personal observations are that the MSC props provide a tremendous amount of thrust at the expense of rpm. They always load an engine up more but do nice things with the "pull". The Menz props are good all around, fast revving props that perform pretty well in any situation. The Mejzlik props are usually higher revving still, providing more speed, but, being a tad heavier, spool up a bit slower than the wood props. My personal favorites (as previously noted) so far are the Biela, doing, at least for me, the best of everything.

Looking at the pictures, you an see that there are similarities with all the props, but blade width and tip shape have some obvious differences. Unfortunately, no one prop will work best for one person, engine, or purpose, so the time and expense of experimentation from plane to plane will never cease. Soon to be the next trial will be a Fuchs 27-10.

RE: Propellers, some visual comparisons

Thanks for the interesing side-by-side comparison. I just ordered the new Vess props. It will be an interesting change as far as props go.
