Extra vs Edge

Can someone please tell me what the main differance in flight charicteristics is? I love the look of the edge myself. I am looking for something to learn the imac sequences with.

Thanks,
Rich

RE: Extra vs Edge

The Edge has a straight leading edge which makes it more willing to yaw from side to side.

In 3D this is good. IN IMAC it's not so good, but at the lower levels probably makes only a little difference.

Extras, Sukhois, etc. have a swept leading edge that is less willing to Yaw. The Giles is even more swept and has a very straight line feel to it.

Will the extra 300 float like the edge? (thats what I have heard anyways)

From what I know no it won't. The Edge I'm pretty sure has the larger wing area so I'm pretty sure that it has the better float ratio.

There is a minor but identifiable difference. The Edge's wings are a little thicker, making them less willing to stall.

The Edge's stall speed is a bit lower, which is what you want for 3D. For IMAC you need an identifiable break when doing a spin or snap, this is what the Extra does better. Either one will land very easily, and sometimes floating on landing can make it harder to get the plane down on a small field.
