Tom's Flying Field?
 

Hi Tom,

I am in Lewisville for a few days, where is your flying field? I would love to stop by tomorrow (Sunday) and take a look at some wild hares!

It's totally under water.

I have a picture but it's apdf and RCU doesn't support them, but trust me the whole park is flooded. The photo shows our roof and wind sock and a lot of water, nothing else.

I think he shoved it our way. :(;) I'm in Vidalia LA, accross the river from Natchez Miss, and we've been getting hammered for a week with rain out of TX. It's been storming all morning, since before daylight, so no flying this weekend. I live two blocks from our flying field and it's too wet to use. Gonna take at least a week or more to dry out. Lucky I got the grass cut the day before the rain began. Bright side is that I'm utilizing the time to build the Wildhare Ultimate that I got from Tom...:D:):D

Tom,
If you get in a pickle and need a field to fly in you only need to give me a shout. My casa is your casa. Or should that be my field is your field LOL... Either way just give me a call if your in the need before yours drys out.

Yeah it really sucks that we can't fly. Especially now that I have the Sukhoi finished. I'm just eggin to fly it. But it's startin to dry out here. But I haven't gone this whole time without flying. It's good to have foamies.

Actually the water is still rising, I don't expect our field to be flyable for at least a month.

If it wasn't for the necessary lead time W/H would have the perfect oppportunity to come out with a float plane....Sorry to hear about the field and local conditions.

OK here it is. You can see the tops of the picnic table and runup stand.

The area at the bottom which is outlined by short posts is the parking lot.

Yeah Tom, That was about 2 weeks ago. So I think the water should be going down very very very very slowly. Where's the heat. We need some of that global warming.

The irony of the situation is that we are in a severe drought here in FL. We should water truck a whole lot of that flood water on down. It would help with global warming and maybe with the drought situation here.

I can fly at North Dallas which is a 40 minute drive. That field is also a lake but the critical areas (runway, pits, parking, access roads) are all above water. I don't know if they planned it that way, but if they did the guy who worked it out was a genius. Very nice field.

You think that was bad? The water is still rising, here's a new more recent photo. I've outlined it to show where the locations of runway, parking lot and access road.

Since the earlier photo the water his risen about 5-6 feet it looks like, now the tables, bleacher seats, and runway fencing are all under water.

And Yes Tom It is now smooth. We ran over it lightly with a disk and a huge peace of angle iron. Lucky for us(unlucky for you) we had a lot of rain and the grass grew. The field is in excellent shape!
