Default YS63 funflyer prop!

Dear Dave,
I currently use an OS50SX with a 12.25x3.75 on my Madness. I plan on preparing a definitve version with the YS63. Can you recommend the best choice in low speed "funfly" props (APC).

I plan on running between 20&30% CoolPower.

Thank You,
Mark Novack

Hi Mark,
Just can't seem to get away from those YS engines,eh? Try one of the following 12.75x3.75, 13x5, 14x4 APC. For the hovering stuff you can get away with a pretty small prop since you don't run them at full throttle much.
Good Flying,
Dave

12.25x3.75 for Ys 63??? How fast does it rew with it??

I would say apc 14x4W is a good starting point. If you want to rew faster try APC 13x4W. Also APC 13x6 works suprisingly well in hover.

BTW what is the "red line" (max practical ground rpm) for YS 63? If I remember right, the insructions state the rpm 2000-15000?

As I said, since you won't be running these at full throttle you can get away with the small props. You should do all of your adjustments with a prop that will turn about 12000. To run the 63 full throttle on the 12.75x3.75 might float the valves.

OK I got the point. Based on experience with similar size engines in fun flys, I am pretty sure that APC 13x4W will put Ys 63 close to that 12 000 rpm red line. APC 12,25x3,75 is about the load to engine as the familiar APC 11x6.

My 53 cranks the 13x4W on 25% @ 11,000 (3500' asl) the 14x4W was too much for it but probably would work well on the 63.

Dave, my DZ showed up tdoay, will run her this weekend, cant wait !!!
