Default Best , no compromise YsFZ140 exhaust setup?

YS FZ140 ( part number on box is 00096)No noise concerns where I'm flying- is an open exhaust going to give me more power than running a header pipe with muffler?I've tuned 2 stroke pipe systems , just don't know if anything is to be gained on the 4 strokesIt's for a Desire 120 pattern plane and if I need to run a muffler for more power it'll likely need to be the older style skinny Hatori to fit in the fuse/ belly pan tunnel Thanks Jake

Jake do you plan on using it in competition? If yes then you need a muffler of some sort but I would suggest a muffler no matter what just to save your sanity.

If you are putting it in an old pattern plane, the plane was probably designed with a tuned pipe tunnel in it. Those pipes and headers can be gotten quite inexpensively from the pattern guys who moved on to newer gear. You can ask in the Pattern forum if anyone has some old tuned exhaust sitting on a shelf collecting dust.

I've got a Hatori racing header and skinny muffler I can use- just want to maximize power output- guess I can go up in nitro as well

A 1.40FZ in the Desire 120 won't have an issue with power.

What are the suitable props for the 140 FZ and are the rpm ~s I can expect ? At the moment I am using a 16x8 APC . 15 % nitro and 20 % oil.RPM is around 8600 tuned rich.

There's a guy advertising machine work on rcu. I think I'll ask about making an adapter for the dz140,160,&170 series to take DLE mufflers. There is Hatori and a Pitts muffler for running the engines inverted but other than straight pipes I've found nothing else.
