Wanted to ask the following question on the "Current YS engine HP" thread, but couldn't as it was locked.
At any rate, it would probably be more helpful (at least to me) if the posting for the HP ratings included the max. thrust and the prop used to attain the reported figure. In fact, the thrust numbers are more meaningful to me than the HP in trying to determne what engine to put on an engine of 'x' weight.

Thanks anyway, Dave. Am I correct to assume that the thrust ratings would be more valuable to most folks than the gross HP?

My experience has always been that flying the airplane has been the best proof. The prop that produces the highest static thrust is not necessarily the one that provides the best flight performance.
