Default YS 110 Running Backwards

I am having trouble with my engine starting backwards. I'm trying to break it in on the bench but when I use a chicken stick to start it, it starts backwards. I have not used an electric starter yet because it says not to use a spinner. It started fine yesterday in the forward motion but for some reason, it wants to go backwards today and pull air through the muffler and out the carb. I have the needle settings at factory also. It does seem like it started giving me problems when it got past half a tank. Will that have anything to do with it? It is a brand new tank.

Use an electric starter. Especially since you have no idea what the setting need to be. Yes they are set at factory but this is not alwasy where they need to be.

Use a Starter Thats why they make them.

You can't flip it hard enough with a chicken stick to keep it from backfiring. This can damage the engine when it backfires and starts backwards.

Luckily, It never backfired. I will try using the electric starter. Thanks!
