YS140DZ
I have a new 140DZ that seems to be inconsistent on idle setting. Idles good on the ground but changes after in the air a while (speeds up) requiring me to adjust trim. Sometimes it to take a little while for the engine to spool down to an acceptable idle for landing. Always has good transition on the ground and in the air. Does the pump need adjusted! I've pressurized the fuel system and have found no leaks. All screws and bolts on the engine tight. I am using the following:
Tettra Tank powermaster DZ 30% fuel APC 17x12 prop OS F plug Thanks, Todd Schmidt |
RE: YS140DZ
Yes, the pump probably needs to be adjusted. I would try turning it clockwise about 1/2 turn .

RE: YS140DZ
Dave, I turned the pump in 1/4 turn to start with. The engine ran fine and transitioned well on the ground. Took off and was in the air about 1 minute when it she died. Could not get the engine to restart, tried changing the plug, but to no avail it would not run. Came home and noticed fuel pouring out of the pipe when carry the plane into my shop. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Todd Schmidt P.S. When changing the plug, there was not an excess amount of fuel running out of the head like you find with a flooded engine. The engine turned over normal. |
RE: YS140DZ
There is something more than just an adjustment. I think it needs to come back to our service dept. for a look.

RE: YS140DZ
Dave, I was able to get the DZ dialed in tonight. I ended up going a 1/2 turn in on the pump, and 1.25 out on the high end from 1.75. The engine was just ultra rich and loaded with fuel. She runs great and idles good now. thanks for your help!! Todd
