140L
Hey Dave. On the L when replacing the carb gasket, am I supposed to cut away the little area to match the ys plastic gasket. Lemme ask you a Q about the engine also. I bought it about 3 years ago and have never ever had 1 consistent run out of it. I sent it back after I bought it. Rich put a new piston and liner in it and said it was one of a bad batch or something to that effect. I got it back and still continued to have problems with it every time I have tried it. I gave up on it several times and put my other L in the plane. Well I'm back to trying it again. Here's the problem with no more than 20 short unsuccessful flights on it since getting it back from Rich. Start it, set the high end, low is already set, regulator flush, sounds good. Take off within a minute or so of starting it, and it starts revving up and down at full. Fly it around to see if cooling helps, even though other ys's run fine in it, still wanna see if maybe its hot, doesn't help. Land, let cool for 1/2 hour, start it, try to set the needle and it still rev's up and down. I have tried adjusting the regulator 1/8 turns at a time, in and out. Seemed one flight to help about a half turn in yesterday. I thought maybe I was close. Today, straight from the after the first takeoff, revs up and down. It's frustrating, as you know. Especially since I have never had one good full flight with this L. Any help would really be appreciated. It's in a 2 meter pattern ship with a pipe, plenty of vent cutouts for cooling in the chin cowl. Thanks for your time!!!!!!!! Chris
Oh, I have set the valve's and put new gaskets on everytime I check em. |
RE: 140L
Get that thing back to us. If it's been that long since it we looked at it, there are some other mods which need to be done. Why did you wait so long to tell us??

RE: 140L
Well, I went through periods of thinking it was me not the motor so I would let it sit for a few months and then try again and then get upset with it again. I couldn't understand why a brand new motor wouldn't run. Especially a YS.. It still looks, and is brand new on the inside! Also, I had another L motor that I rebuilt after a few months of not being able to get this L to run. Plus numerous other planes. I quit flying pattern for a while(which had a little to do with this motor and the frustration factor that came with it). I went through having cancer. Way too many reasons, huh? I'm just now finishing up on another batch of chemo, so after I get back to work and save some money I'll send it in. Thanks for your super quick response. I just put my other L back in and went back to the field and had a great time with it. Guess I'll use it at the Fresno contest next weekend. Where do I send my engine when I'm ready? Oh yeah, my brother told me to ask you if you make a piston and liner set for the OS 140rx and if so where can he get them. Thanks again for taking the time to respond to me. That's great customer service!!!!!!!!!! Chris

RE: 140L
I still have the 140RX setups, but I'm down to my last one and may not make any more. They were not a strong seller. Have your brother order one online at www.pspec.com
The YS needs to come back to this address: YS Service 1295 Industrial Court Gardnerville, NV 89410 Phone 775-782-4562 |
RE: 140L
Thanks for your time Dave. It's greatly appreciated!!!!!!!! Maybe I'll come to the contest up there and just drop the motor off. Take care
