YS63 problems!
I ran my 63 yesterday. I ran it rich, about 9500 on a 12.5x6 APC. Today at the field it seemed to run fine on my first flight with it. I set it with a tach and took off. It leaned out in the air, so I landed. I worked with it on the ground for about half an hour with no luck. Check valve, filter, plumbing is all per the book.
I'm running Omega 15% for now with an APC 12.5x6 prop and OS F plug. Here's what it does. I leaned it out some, to about 11,000, then backed it down to 10,000. It slowly richens up down to about 7000, and sometimes just keeps loading up and dies. It really won't hold any setting at all. If I try to lean it out at all it starts to really unload, definitely running lean. It seems like an air leak or something. I've got good tank pressure. I'll start looking into it tomorrow night, but I thought that someone may have experienced something similar. I should not have to do anything but touch the needles on a new motor, so I'm hesitant to start adjusting valves until I hear from some experienced users. Thanks, Chuck |
YS63 problems!
It's hard to diagnose problems like this by wire. It is possible that the crankcase might have a pinhole in it which will cause this type of problem.
The only way to get this corrected properly is to send the engine to our service dept. YS Service 1295-C Industrial Court Gardnerville, NV 89410 Be sure to include a note outlining to problem. Thanks, Dave |
