110 Low/Mid Range
 

I believe that I have the high end tuning fine on my 110FZ. But I can't seem to get it to idle reliably. It idles in the pits but after a fabulus flight the engine will quit just before landing. As it idles, there are puffs of smoke and is just about 2000-2300 rpm's, so I assume its tuned ok on the sligtly rich side. Decent smoke trail at 1/2-2/3's throttle. A bit of a (@ 1/3rd throttle) cough or ruff spot upon giving it a fast throttle input to increase rpm's. I have not had enough guts to go full throttle yet, I am afraid of loosing the wings.

Stats:

Hanger 9 Ultra Stick .60
Byron 30% Heli Fuel
OS4 stroke Plug
APC 15X4 prop
500ft above sea level

Do you recon it will be the regulator screw also for me? It is still at the factory setting. Or have I not gotten used to listening for the correct landing rpm's and kill the engine with the throttle trim? I had a problem with finding a suitable tank for the engine. I think I have solved the leak but I wont know if that was cursing my idle settings until the weekend.

The regulator needs adjusting.

Go to the instructions at www.ysperformance.com and follow the setup completely, I think it will solve your problems.

Dave, is a 15 x 4 prop enuff on a 110?

I am confused, but I trust your opinion. The YS site states sizes 13X12 thru 16X6. Is 16X4 the best for hovering and stunts?

Maybe, depends on your application. I know lots of guys using the 16x4 and lots using the 16x6.

What about a 3 bladed prop, like a 14X7 or 16X8, what would they do for me.

16x8 is probably too big. The 14x7 maybe too small. Doubt either will do much for you.

I have read about the inefficiancies of multi-bladed props. 16X4 or the new 17X4 APC's 2 bladed are the way to go at around 8800rpm.

I cant find my manual now, but I read that the

High end needle id clockwise to lean
Regulator clockwise to lean
Idle needle counterclockwise to lean

Is this correct? I read it on this site by Mark Fuess.
