YS110FZ, won't run

:)I have recently purchased 3 YS 110FZ engines. I bought one last October and 2 in December. I've flowen the oldest one a little bit with pretty good results and felt like it was just beginning to really work good when the snow hit. The 3rd one I haven't run at all yet. My question is with the 2nd one. Two nights ago I started it up and ran it in my airplane on the ground, just to break in. It ran pretty good but seemed hard to get to idle below 3000 RPM. Tonight I started it to do a little more tuning and ran it approx. 5 minutes. I shut it off and then later tried to restart. She won't fire. I've tried new glow plug, OS#F, still won't fire. I cleaned the regulator, still won't fire. I inspected the valve adjustment, seems ok although I didn't adjust. Still won't fire. For the record: 30% cool power fuel, APC 16x6 prop, elevation = 4800 feet, OS#F glow plug. I turned the prop by hand and it seems to have pretty good compression but noticeably less than my one from October. Also, when I bring it up on compression I can hear a slight air leak. Another strange. I tried to empty my fuel tank and it would not empty. I thought something was wrong with my filler pump so I closely inspected it. Nothing wrong. I noticed air bubbles coming from the line that goes to the carb. Just for kicks I pulled the fuel line off of the engine on the carb side right at the nipple that the line hooks to as it goes into the engine. I put a fuel dot in that line. Bingo, I could empty the tank with no problems. Filled the tank again and tried to empty with line connected, won't empty, pull the line and plug, empties fine. Any ideas? I'm about out.
Thanks,
Barry Cazier

RE: YS110FZ, won't run

Sounds like a plumbing problem. Completely re-do all the fuel lines, and make sure the check valve is in the correct direction and working properly.

When you took the regulator off, did you orient the body with the casting bump forward when it was re-installed?

Go to www.ysperformance.com and use the running instructions to set the engine.

Don't fret the compression. If the valves are set correctly, the comp will increase when you run it for awhile. Make sure the valves are set at .003"

:)The casting body of the regulator was on backwards. I wonder how that could happen!?!?!? Thank you for your input. Saved me sending the engine back to you. Engine runs fine now. Ran it about 20 more minutes today. Starting to idle better. Consistant at about 2500 RPM. Hopefully as it breaks in a little more it will settle down even more. Running very good on top end. I'm getting about 9600 RPM with APC 16x6. Wasn't pushing it too hard yet or leaning it down yet because she's still new.
Again, thank you very much for your help. I'm a happy camper.
Barry
