YS 110 Top end

Hi Dave,

I've got a new 110 with about 2500 cc of 25% nitro fuel though it now doing the break in. So far, I've found that as you've said here on the forum, the 16x4 prop recommended for the Funtana won't hold this little horse even at this 4500 ft. ASL and about 85 degrees ambient temp.

So I've got the 16x6 prop on it now and my question is that wide open it will spin at about 9200 RPM, but if I close the throttle just a hair it will wind up to almost 9500 RPM, open the throttle all the way and it slows down again. I've followed the procedures for setting it up and the idle, mid-range and transition are all good, but I'm curious about why this is happening. It would seem it's a touch lean wide open, so is that possibly a regulator setting problem?

I'm a newby at this model engine stuff, but I have a bunch of experience with full scale piston and turbine engines, so I'm still trying to learn these nifty little engines.

Thanks,
Zeeb

It's probably a tad lean at the top end. Also try the new APC 16.5x5 prop made especially for the YS 110.

Okay, pardon my ignorance here, but I'm thinking you're talking about adjusting the regulator?

I've seen references to adjusting that but I don't remember the parameters other than the top of it should be about even with the case.

Since none of the LHS's seem to stock YS specific fuel, I'm going to see if I can get my favorite one to order me some 30% YS fuel and I'll see about getting that new prop as well.

One other quick thing, I saw the posts about stickers and sent you an e-mail requesting them but got no response. I've actually got two of the 110's, the other one is going in a Hangar 9 Corsair, can I try the e-mail again for stickers?

Regarding the Corsair, what would be a good starting point for a three blade prop on the 110?

Thanks,
Zeeb

Try my email again [email protected] I've never received a request from you.

Use the instructions at www.ysperformance.com for setting the whole engine up properly.

The 14x7 and 15x8 three blade Graupner props which are available at Hobby Lobby are suitable.
