YS63 still having midrange problems

Dave,
here is a thread we talked about this motor before.

I am still having mid range problems. I opened up the regulator screw like you said, and it didn't help. I went 1/4 turn at a time. I went out until the regullator screw was fixing to come out. and nothing fixed my problem. I then started back where I was before, and i start screwing it in 1/4 turn at a time, and it would not work. So i am at a loss.

Ever since Ys work on my motor in August, because of a bad regulator spring. ys raplaced my regulator spring, and piston. I have had nothing but problems out of this motor. Now since it out of warranty. It looks like I am going to have to send it in again, to get it fixed.

Can you tell me what I can do, to fix this problem. Because I have a motor that is suppose to be the best 4 stroke made, and it runs like garbage.

Thanks in advance.

We need to get this problem solved, but service will be closed until January 13, so don't send it to arrive before that date. Don't worry that the engine is not in warranty. If the problem is not due to abuse, we will fix it.

Thanks, Bobby. We want everyone to be happy with their YS engines. As you know, they are a bit more complex than the others, but when they run right, they are worth the expertise that they need.

Good Flying and Happy Holidays!

m.gramling,

Try the engine on a test stand or at least with a new fuel tank outside of the airplane. If you haven't done that, I would not blame the engine yet.

Kane, thanks but I have already tried that 2 times. It is on test stand.
By the way, have you solved your problems w/ your yet.

I have had this YS63 in the shop before. And it looks like it going back. Unfortunely, this motor has been no use to me since August. I sent it in, they fixed it. I got it back, and shortly after I got it back, it started having midrange problems.

When this motor was new and working, I loved it. Now that it's giving me problems, and i can't solve them, I am hating it. It drives me crazy that I can't solve them, because I know what a performer this motor is. My SE hasn't been able to tail touches because the motor in unreliable. but I will sent it again to get fixed. So maybe when it weather starts getting good, my SE will see fly flight time again.

I got my problems solved as far as running it goes, but now I can't start it.

I have had one flight with the engine running reliably since early September...

For some reason I keep thinking it will all be worth it... I'm slowly leaning the other way though. I would send it in again, but just can't afford it anymore! $250 to buy it and a month later $70 to repair it...Total of 10 flights.

Good luck with yours!
