Hi Dave !
I've set up the YS110 for running it for the first time. The engine is mounted horizontal, with carb inlet facing upwards. As the prop passes over top on the compression stroke, the regulator opens for fuel, and the carb will eventually flood if left in this position. Guess this is normal, as the regulator closes again after another half turn on the prop. But I was unable to make the engine run in this position, would start and then quit after a few seconds. Rotating the engine 90 deg. ccw, so that the carb won't fill up with fuel made the engine run, still quite rough on idle but have not tried so much with regulator adjustment yet. Long story short, before I try to adjust for good idle and WOT, is the behavior of the reg. normal ? That it remains open if engine is left with piston just passed it's compression stroke ? :eek:

It should NOT remain open no matter how the engine is mounted or how the propellor is turned. That is the purpose of the regulator and yours is sticking. Where did you get the engine?

Got the engine from central hobbies a week ago. Guess I'll have a closer look at that regulator then [&o]

Dismantled the regulator, and it looked fine, could not find anything ste carb.icking in there.Tried to fire it up, and it was running with carb facing upwards. Seems like it got way too much fuel (running 30/20), so I decided to make 1/2 turn on regulator as I was unable to make it run nice with adjusting low/high speed valve. This ended up in leaning it out, and the spinner is now retired as it backfired:D As conclusion of this, I think the engine is ok, the regulator works as it should( if I understand it right, the regulator controls the amount of fuel to be delivered to the carb. Visually, I saw a great reduction in fuel allowed from the regulator when turned 1/2 turn in, and another turn in made it almost completely shutting of fuel to the carb.), so I guess it's just to find the right spot for the regulator to make it run fine (offcourse I will adjust high and low speed valves to ). Please advice if I'm misunderstadning the function of the regulator, I'm not an expert on these engines but have enjoyed the power of the YS63 for about a year with only minor problems (Regulator).
