YS 61 on the pipe...prop?
Hello,
I'm in the process of building an old school Aurora pattern plane, actually the PA2, and will be putting the YS 61 rear exhaust engine on the plane. I'll be running %15 wildcat fuel and an OS #8 plug. What is the recommended prop for this setup? Thanks! |

apc 12*11 would do the job
look for 10200 - 10000 rpm :-) good luck :-) sharon :-) |

sfirst: Please read the forum rules regarding posting on threads.
e_eves: Prop for about 11000 and the engine will be much happier on the lower nitro fuel you will be running. |

Howdy.
I have recently bought a kitted out Aurora fitted with the OS61FR engine. It runs sweet now I have fitted the Positve Fuel Pressure System as you can see from my pictures. It has taken the guess work out with leaning for a whole flight and inverted flight is as good as the right way up. Best investment I ever made and now a devotee of the system. Nothing like having the same mixture setting at the end of the flight as at the beggining! Here is the web site: http://www.billsroom.com/pcfs/ The plane was fitted with the SCHIMITAR prop when I got it but definately looks the part. The engine turns at 10,230 RPM but usually lives at half throttle and is still fast. The OS#8 only seems to last about 10 flights. Wouldn't mind knowing if anyone has had success with any other plugs? The plane has now completed 35 flights with me now but a total unknown about her full tally! Probably over 100 I would say and still a true flyer and looks like she is on rails! Cheers from Down Under. |

Keith P............And your reason for posting this on the YS forum IS?

RE: YS 61 on the pipe...prop?
Gee mate can't you read. I am sharing my experience on the using a fuel pressure system that gets the engine to perform through all of a flight and I don't know if you noticed, the start of the thread asked about a prop!!!!! and I stated that the Schimitar prop did give good performance on the Aurora.
What is your angle on your question? I don't have anything to do with the Fuel Pressure manufacturer, is that your point? Isn't this forum designed for sharing experience? I just supplied a bit more information through a positive experience. This system is NOT just based on the fuel tank getting pressure but the fuel supply is based on demand from the engine and not the pressure forcing it through to the carby. It can be fitted to ANY 2 stroke or 4 stroke engine. If the engine stops, the supply to the engine stops. |

Except that this is the manufacturers support forum for YS engines. I note that you are new to the RCU forums. Please read the guidelines for posting on the manufacturers forum. Unless you are the thread starter, or myself, you are not supposed to post on any question. It keeps the threads size from getting unmanageable.

No apologies necessary.
Anytime you have a YS question, feel free to ask. Good Flying, Dave |
