110 Mid-Range

Troy,

I have ~2 gal run through my 110. I've adjusted the valve tappets at .0025, I'm using pro-pattern 25%, swinging an APC 16x6, and burning an OS "F" glow plug. I get top end at 9,200 (richened down from 9,500), and an idle at a steady 2,000.

Now my question is directed at the mid-range of 4,000rpm's. How steady would you consider that rpm needs to be before you're satisfied with the regulator adjustment. For example, mine fluxuates +/- 40 rpm. I feel like that's pretty good, but should I strive for a more "rock-steady" 4K?

No +-40 is pretty darn good. I don't think most Tachs are that accurate to really give +-40. I would be happy if it was +-100. If it bounces 40-41-40-41 I would say its pretty close.

The next test is the ear test. Thi si shte one that is a gut feeling and guys that have run them a long time know. Does it sound hollow or detonate when at any point as its throttling up. If it does....then its a smidgen and I mean a smidgen lean on the regulator.

If the engine is just increasing RPMs and the only thing owling is the prop noise then you are golden.

Thanks again Troy. Looks like I've arrived and it feels GOOD!
