ys 91 versus 1.10

I was just wondering what the general consensus is on the ys 91 and the ys 1.10. I the 1.10 that much better of an engine than the 91? Can you expect as much power or are they close enough that you can't really tell? I am sure both are good, but I am going to buy one and since the used ones are selling at about the same price might as well get the best one!

the 110 is a power house i have the 91 and a 120 an its right up there with a 120. There are different versions of the 120 i have 2 different version of the 120. The 110 is ideal power to weight ratio....

The .91 has been out of production for about 5 years. The 1.10 is allready on the second generation. I would avoid the .91 unless it is new or you personaly know the history of the engine. The FZ was the last of the .91's, with the AC being the first version. Some parts from the last version FZ also fit the 1.10fZ, but others may be getting scarce for it now. The original 1.10 was good for an aditional inch of prop though. Considering they are the same basic size and weight, that is a big jump. The old .91 is still a powerhouse though. I would not hesitate to buy a new .91FZ for the rite price, but I would probaly pass on a .91AC. They would still make an awesome engine for a 60-90 size warbird.:D

The 110S is the same weight basically as the 91 and will make more power. In fact the 110S makes power up with the original 120's as stated in a previous post.

If the weight is the same why settle for less power and performance.

I have both a 91FZ and a 110 FZ-S. Both are powerhouses for their respective sizes. The 110 has noticably more power than the 91, which allows it to turn a prop up to 2 sizes larger. I wouldn't hesitate to buy either engine, at the right price.

Spitfire66,
I have the .91ac, .91fz, 1.10fz and the 1.10s. The two .91's are relatively the same in power and weight, the 1.10fz has a little more power and the 1.10s is even stronger yet. Unless you are looking for the .91 due to wing area limitation in racing or something similar I would definitly recommend going with the new 1.10s for the plain fact that you'll get it with warranty and parts will be readily available.

RE: ys 91 versus 1.10

Thanks a lot for the posts everybody! When I bought my airplane I was orginally just going to put a 2 stroke in the plane because I didn't know any better. Now I just want the best after doing a lot of researching and chatting. I was looking at saitos a few months ago, but then I was fascinated by the ys engines. I will not settle for anything less than ys now, but just wanted the general idea in comparison. Thanks for making the hobby an obsession:D
