Tank for Ys63

Hello everybody,

I´m planning to use an YS63 in an AstroHog, I have a 10Oz Kavan fuel tank at home.
I´ll use an APC 13/6, and 25/22 fuel.
Would 10 Oz be enough for the Ys63? I don´t fly at full throttle, I like some aerobatics but nothing very fast or extreme.

Thanks,
Carlos

Hello,

in my experience (using 4 YS 63S) the fuel consumption is about 35CC per minute on 30% Nitro (CP Heli HighPerf.) and about 30 CC per minute on 20% nitro with 12x7 APC.

On 2 of my airplanes I'm using 12 Oz tanks. Both other 2 I've got Tettra's 400 Ml (14 Oz). Taking into account a safety reserve (i don't fly untill empty...) these tanks give me approx. 8 minutes and 10 minute flights.

I'm flying on average at high throttle.

Based on your description of style of flying, my best guess is that 10 Oz should get you a safe 6-7 minutes flight, that's ok.

10oz to 14oz is typical of the fuel tank sizes used with the 63 engines. I would say if you are flying and Astro Hog you should get about 8-10mins at normally lower throttle settings of 1/2 power or so on average.

I have a model with a 63 in it and an 11oz tank. It gets me right at about 10min flying time.

Thanks for yor replys,

considering your advices probably I´ll get a 12Oz tank and have some more flying time, in the astro there is enough place to install it.

Hi Spanishflyer, please let us know how many minutes you get with 12 Oz tank, I'm curious to hear about your findings.

Hi,

Next weekend I´ll fly with that combination, but installed my goldberg Cub. The Astro is under contruction.
I check how many minutes I get, but consume in that case will be low, it is a cub!
Probably people can think that using an YS in a Cub, or Astro is dumm, but since I installed a 110FZ in my Skybolt, I´m in love with them. Is not only power, is that instant response they give, reliability...
A question, what kind of planes have you got?

Hi the ones we (my son) fly the most are a scale model of the famous Jason Air Racing (F1) AlleyCat from Cermark, the others a Kyosho Corsair and a Sukhoi 31.
