Current requirements
The Falkon Ignition version 1.3 (for single cylinder engines) draws 220 mA at 2000 RPM and 680 mA at 8000 RPM with a 4.8 volt supply.

ignition power consumption
I have seen some flyers use NiMH for this. If they are sufficiently large enough, can they be used vs. NiCad's.

NiMH
We do not generally recommend NiMH for ignition batteries as their internal resistance is higher than Ni-Cad batteries. The nature of these CD ignitions is that they require a slug of current to recharge between firings. NiMH work fine until they start to discharge and the output voltage drops. The internal resistance/voltage drop than becomes significant. Ni-Cad will work longer.... At least that has been our experience.
