Any advice about a heatsink for the mamba cm 2080
yea, there are a bunch on thetoyz.com and thereare some on towerhobbies.com also. Just pick on lol. There are tons. I want to get a heatsink motor mount so that i can gear my truck a little higher without over heating it. It stays at 160 the whole run with a 3s right now so im pretty happy with it. I have the 5400 motor. Gearing it at 14/55. I have a 15 tooth i might throw on there soon. I cant get to full speed lol the front end just hovers and i have no steering and it goes out of control. haha even if i accelerate slow it just doesnt wanna go full haha.
I wouldnt gear any higher, 160 is already pretty hot for those motors....

Like I said it is hot. 180 degress is the upper limit and any higher will destroy a motor.

My brushless on 3 8000 cell was running 60 mph at a nice 130 degrees, maybe you have some binding?

I have that same motor in my Mini Ramunatoin and its just breaks left and right..like today I bent my 2 front dogbones one into the shape of a S and the other just snapped right in half and I bent my MIP CVDS when I had it in my mini Baja..and that was with a smaller battery..so be ready for lots of broken parts lol..
Anyone know why the carbide diff balls are better then the stock ones?

also, if you have the shell on or off, it makes a GIANT difference for temps, also a heatsink would be a good addition to it, i got some RC18T pins for my 18T, grip MUCH better than the dirt hawgz, love 'wet" soil though, so well have to see, tread is kindof like the holeshots only much more "spacing", anyone know why my truck loves to "fly" when i 'mash" the throttle on 2s, is this because the car wants to torque steer i am guessing???

I cut out 2 little air hole on the sides of my buggy body and it helps out quite a bit since this body doesn't have the air space that the others do...and it looks better then just being flat lol

carbide dff balls are much harder than the stock ones,so they reist 'flat spots' as well as they roll MUCH smoother

I think so , I was skeptical at first too till I tried them . My diffs used too last 15-20 runs with the stock balls , these have double that on them and they still roll nice and smooth .

castle says to not let your motor get over 200 so i dont. But i have gotten a motor up to 325 and the esc was over 270 and then it went into thermal. HAHA, still runs strong though.

heat = HORRIBLE for ANYTHING electronic, well remember fuse, this isn't your bro's rusty, these motors are MUCH smaller, and offroad isn't the nicest on them, well i gota say, the RC18T pins grip good, love a swept and watered track though [&:], no signs of wear, mmm maybe its because i don't do doughnuts and burnouts , even if there is a layer of "silt" the truck still grips good and doesn't slide as bad as it did with the dirt hawgz, ive gota find out anything thats binding my car (mmm diffs anyone), i am definately keeping my front diff "locked" as it works awesome for lap times, mmm lap counter maybe

Think my motor is going out..I got one insanely fast run out of it then it really really slowed down. I'm getting ready to upgrade to a 2 cell lipo, steel diffs (after these ones go out) and a new motor..I was thinking of the Reedy Modified 17t..is that a good motor? Any other suggestions..I'm not doing brushless. I have enough problems with my brushless Ramunation..
Thanks

the reedy 19T is nice, the 17T is "borderline" with the ESC's limit, not a great idea, if you upgraded to a different one, it would be a 'non issue', ive had no problems with brushless, um, except spurs (bad meshing on my part, tisk tisk), the only "problem" i had with my brushed motor was the stupid brushes, they wore down kindof fast, and were hard to get hold of, if you can find them, get a few "pairs' [8D]

Well I'm always breaking stuff off the Ramunation and don't want to do it with my buggy mainly cause I'm gonna start racing and they don't allow brushless.

oooh ok, that does make sense, what kindof a track is it/whats the classes/your budget, if you wanted something" nice, " ask if you can use like a sidewinder micro esc (can do brushed) and get a nice low turn, 14T is the lowest i think, motor, or get the 19T, gear it higher and it should be nice and fast, shure got a ton of runs with it [8D]
