RE: OFFICIAL RC18MT/B/T THREAD
Hey, I recently purchased a RC18MT, and I grabbed these upgrades as a start... how did I do? I wanted some sleeves for the outdrives but thetoyz only had them in blue so I may just check around a plumbing shop for some brass ones that fit.
RC18 series Spur Pinion Gear COVER for the 18T 18R 18B 18MT (item #DP101 red) $12.99 x 1 $12.99
Rollover White antenna for 1/18th with mount (item #BRP2511 White ) $5.99 x 1 $5.99
RC18T 8.4v stack Elite 1500mAH NiMH battery pack (item #W EL1500-L32X1D) $27.99 x 1 $27.99
BRP RC18T 4mm & 8mm Axle Shim Set (item #625) $3.99 x 1 $3.99
RC18T 18 Series Steel diff and input gear (item #SAR035T14T) $13.99 x 2 $27.98
Team Associated Shim set (item #ASC21141) $0.99 x 1 $0.9
So basically, getting steel diffs, the gear cover, some shims, and a pretty cool 7 cell battery :0 The extra 1.2 volts should inch out a bit more speed for me Any other must haves?

@kukkudo If the batterie is for your transmitter, than ok, it is for your car, than you should choose a battery that can sustain more amps.
As for chargers, they seem reasonable but there are betters in hobbycity. Depends what you want them for.

Constant discharge: 3-5C
Since it is a 2.5A battery, you can draw 3*2.5A = 7.5A , or on burst 5*2.5 = 12.5A
your motor and speed controler will pull or draw more current than that. So your batterie will get damaged pretty quick.
You should choose a batterie which has a constant discharge bigger than 15C, where c is the capacity of the battery.

Should i go higher in MAH? Or that pretty good

don't know much about any RC car, so I am no help with the battery info. However with the charger you may prefer to use a charger that is capable of higher charge rate. The battery you indicated can be charged at 3 Cell (11.1 volts) and 2.2amps on a lipo charger, which will take an hour at that rate. All of the chargers you have picked out will take considerably longer.
True?

RE: OFFICIAL RC18MT/B/T THREAD
I dont charge anything over 1C ever. I dont care what chemistry it is. Better safe than sorry. (I hate having to buy new batts).
Oldzy: About your reverse issue on the mongoose, did you look at the different settings for that sucker? I think you can program in delays and deadzones and what not for the reverse. You might try resetting the esc if you havnt already.
I have 13/57 gearing on my buggy, it hasnt done any flips... then again I dont have a lipo... yet.

RE: OFFICIAL RC18MT/B/T THREAD
kukkudo , there are few lipo batteries that can be charged at more than 1c.
If that bat could be charged faster it would be announced on the webpage.
What the guy from hobby city said, is true. The battery has 3 batteries in series, each cell as nominal tension of 3.7V. So the final voltage is 11.1v.
Also your batterie is 2200mAh. Which means that it can deliver 2A for an hour(not quite true but, it doesn´t matter for now).
It also means that the charger is going to supply 2200mAh in order to charge the battery in one Hour. This means that the charger is going to charge at 1C. C represents the capacity of your batterie.
YOU SHOULD NOT CHARGE LIPO BATTERIES AT MORE THAN 1C.
If you feel uncomfortable with all of this terms, I suggest you should use nimh batteries which are safer (you should be careful when charging any kind off batteries) .
You can buy a charger that will allow you to charge lipo in the future.
for example: [link]http://www.hobbycity.com/hobbycity/store/uh_viewItem.asp?idProduct=6789&Product_Name=MAX_E6_Digital_Lipo_Charger_[/link]

So confusing all the chargers I have you charge it red light when done green light. Works fine too I dont get this stuff with all the numbers etc. I just need a charger that will do the trick.

Yes, it will do the trick. It wont charge at 2.2A it will charge at 2, but yes it will charge your batterie.
But be careful with lipo bats.

2 packs at once! neat!
i would recommend a charger that lets you set the charge rate at 1c and not have to worry about doing the math to set the right amp rate. ie: set it and forget it! my FMA 4s will safely & properly charge any lipo pack i have without touching a single button! great for lipo newbs!

I have the Hyperion Duo - Super Easy charger to use with Lipos (auto balance) with 10 battery memory, storeage feature, (great for me in the winter). Download upgrades via computer internet link - etc. etc. The best.

RE: OFFICIAL RC18MT/B/T THREAD
i was reading lipo incident reports on another forum and it seemed the good majority of lipo fires were a result of the user incorrectly setting the charge parameters, forgetting to change the parameters, or the charger somehow loosing its charge settings. i can easily see how this happens as my mind is often in a million different places and in the moment sometimes isn't one of them!

RE: OFFICIAL RC18MT/B/T THREAD
Indeed - You could endanger your family by charging your Lipo incorrectly - Keep this in mind - These batteries need special attention and they are great.

RE: OFFICIAL RC18MT/B/T THREAD
My charger - Hyperion Duo (way expensive) checks each battery before it starts charging and won't charge if basic settings are not correct. That is a nice feature for saftey.

RE: OFFICIAL RC18MT/B/T THREAD
I bought the 18R today
What kind of lipos are people putting in these? I find the stock size is very difficult to find batteries.
http://67.199.85.166/main/productdet...ory=5009.xxxxx
Is a direct fit and is pretty cheap only downside is that is 2S
Anyone know any other 2S's or any 3s's? (prefer)
The Reedys battery size is: (Same as stock)
L:95.25mm
W:25.4mm
H:12.7
