1/2 A flying wing?

RE: 1/2 A flying wing?
The Spider Delta looks very much like Patrick Ulmer's Blink, but I think the Spider is a bit larger. I have Patrick's Blink plans available. I think he would be OK with posting since they were available on his web site before it was shut down.

RE: 1/2 A flying wing?
I'm a bit of a wing-nut ,,, with some catching up to do here...
First post, Dave was looking for a yb-49 or a Zagi style wing. Closest I can come would be one of these,
www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php
It is a 31" , 1/4" bluecor wing that flys great! with a little Econocoat or any low temp covering and a .049 Hmmmm
Here is a pic of a few that went out last time. My 31" wing, my 24" wing, and a 85% Kombat Kid. I will say all are a hoot to fly, but the 31" is the most Zagi-like.
Hit a cheap Dollar Store and pick up a cheap low temp hot glue gun and a few extra sticks, only thing to use with foam!
Remby brought up the "Willit" fromDave Pastor .
So what was the deal with PT's "Blink"? I seem to remember a few guys building them talking about some wicked first rides and not much after that. There was one guy out in Sweden that posted a Blink video ( man could that guy hold his breath!)
And Dave please do post a few pictures of what you come up with.

RE: 1/2 A flying wing?
So I built a wing about 15% smaller than crazy herb's to better fit my product engine.
I did a rough caculation of CG and the initial test glide with elvelons centered showed a strong nose down pitch on launch. I added weight to the tail to get a gentle glide.
Upon trying to fly with power I found the pitch to be uncontrollably responsive. ANY application in pitch (up OR down) lead to a violent pitch to 90 degrees. I removed some of the weight off the tail and reduced control throw 25%, but ran out of props before I got it to fly controllably.
My guess is this is a CG issue and it needs to come forward quite a bit. I imagine once the weight is off the tail, It will have positive elvelon in the pitch channel to fly level. Is this normal?

Flying wings should fly at 15% MAC as a starting point.
The higher the wing loading, the narrower the flyable CG range will be. If it's too heavy, then there will never be a flyable CG.
I fine tune the CG for not just the best pitch control at speed, but also an acceptable glide home.

I think I might have it sorted...
I did a bunch of glide testing and started adding weight to the nose. I tried a few pitch bumps and seemed to quie things a bit down a bit.
I did another MAC/CG check and found that I measured from the firewall, not the intersection of sweep of the wing. This moved the cg range back about 1.5". So I was trying to fly at about 30-45% MAC. No wonder I had issues.
Glide/power tests in a few days...

Ok... I see several PM's for the plans. I can see why since Matchless' designs fly and look good.
I will email out in ACAD format (.DWG), but if anyone cannot open I will get a copy scanned into PDF format.
This will take a few days, but no problem.

Try a Balsa Pibros??
http://rc-soar.com/pibros/
look at the balsa version #9 if balsa is preffered
Plans are in the link somewhere.
These are ballistic with decent power fitted
Figure out how to add a engine on the front (skill testing question :-) and go fly
