TeeDee .010 Questions
After seeing all those .010s at S.M.A.L.L. I think I need a mini LiteHawk with a .010 for pullin' it around.
Is there a difference in the red and black engines?
Matchless, Where do I get a throttle like the one on your 'monk?
What else might I need besides a wrench, a prop and an AJ reset tool?
Awaiting your guidance,

RE: TeeDee .010 Questions
Larry, the .010 throttle sleeve/cyl./piston sets come from Steve Adams in CA. His email is [email protected] He has plenty in stock.
I've been told the red tank engines turn up quite a bit better than the black ones but I've only owned the black ones. My .010's have been the lowest maintenance Cox engines I've owned. Nothing done other than the initial rod reset after break-in.

Dickeybird is right. My red/gold .010's do run better than my black/silver .010's. DB has reset my .010's for me after break-in, and they all run great.
A .010 LiteHawk sounds like a hoot.
Thanks so much for letting me fly your bigger LHawks. Was an absolute blast!
When you get your sleeve from Steve, make up a batch of 30-35% nitro fuel with about 23% oil. I have gotten the best performance out of mine with 2-3 gaskets under the head (my glow heads are lasting longer too).

AJC,
I'd like to get a reset tool from you for the Cox Tee Dee .010 if you can please add me to your list for the next ones you make. I'll be more than happy to pay you, I certainly don't want it for free.

I best get started on a search for a red tank.

RE: TeeDee .010 Questions
Larry,
I may be able to help...
I bought two red tank original cox td 010s in Toledo a few years back. Very good shape and I havent run them yet, hope to make something this year finally for one.
If you want to grab one from me, let me know. The only thing is they have black tanks now (I put new ones on them) because I gave the red ones to a friend who wanted them for collector engines (I didnt care what color they are as I want to run them, not look at them)

RE: TeeDee .010 Questions
Yup, the throttle sleeve hooks up the same as on .049's & .020's....I run smaller music wire to hook up though. I'll have to measure it and get back to you on the size.
No need to reduce the venturi size; maybe an extra shim or two under the head if needed with 35%. Funny how the smaller they are, the better they run!
I assume the earlier red-tank versions run stronger because of some higher level of magic in the piston/cyl. fit that can no longer be duplicated with modern techniques. You will lose some of that magic when you get the throttle sleeve equipped cyls. since Steve fits his sleeve to recently manufactured cyls. that he gets directly from Cox.
