Default Newbie - Futaba or Hitec for buddy setup

Hi,

I have a parkzone t28 that came with the stock radio that doesn't support a trainer cord. So, I'm looking to upgrade the radio to 2.5ghz with trainer support so that I can teach my kids to fly with a buddy setup. I've narrowed down my selection to the futaba 6ex and hitec optic 6. I'm not anticipating needing more than 6 channels - only using 4 right now . Seems the radios are similar enough. The cost of futaba w/ 1rx is about $200 and seems I can get the optic 6 w/ 2 RX for about the same price. Most of the reading I've done seems to point to hitec as a better value proposition whereas futuba is just more solid. I like the idea of hitecs omni directionaly antenna vs. the futaba where you have to correctly orient the 2 antennas for the rx.

Regardless, seems it is best to have the master/trainer be the same brand. Is that always the case? Basically I'd love a really inexpensive trainer with either box - seems they really don't make a pure trainer box.

So, I'm just looking for any insight. I'm sure some of this can boil down to preference. Thanks for your help.

Also, any good use for the old transmitter/rx from the parkzone? Is there any market for these on ebay, etc?

Mark
