You haven't had any problem with them slipping or spinning the prop off?

Not at all. I put the backplate on, then prop, then the 4 washers, then the normal washer and 2 nuts. The washers I bought are the same outside diameter as the YS washer.

RE: SEAGULL HARRIER 90...WHO'S GOT ONE?
I did the same with the washers and it worked well. The YS91 has plenty of power for verticle and pulls through snaps much better than the Saito 100.
When I was flying today one of the field pros came up and asked if he could give it a try. Needless to say everyone at the field was spellbound at what he did with the Harrier. It will do climbing inverted flat spins and everything else in the book. There are absolutely no limits with this plane. He did every kind of twirl and snap and flew it until it ran out of gas then spun it in, rolled and landed center runway. It was nothing less than a religious experience.
So, if anyone has doubts about what the Harrier will do, don't bother. It's awesome.

RE: SEAGULL HARRIER 90...WHO'S GOT ONE?
I was using an APC 16x4 but the tips were going ballistic. So I switched to a 16x6 on the advice of YS. Love it. Depending on what I want to do with the CG I use a wood Scimitar 16x6 or the heavier APC 16x6.
The 16x6 does not need a spacer. It is wide enough. But, if you do need a spacer, just use a washer or two. Thats what I did and it worked fine.

Hi, do you think a ST .90 with an APC 15x4 will have a decent power to weight considering I´m flying 4000 feet above sea level?
This plane looks awsome so I will order mine right know.

mine one hovers at 1/2 throttle asl on 15% omega -- os91fx
at 4k ft tt120 will be a good choise. great reserve/potential for future use
tt120 is even cheaper than 0s91fx with equal durability & reliability 'cause i ve been there

RE: SEAGULL HARRIER 90...WHO'S GOT ONE?
I just built one this past week. I put an OS 1.08 FSR in it with an APC 16 x 4W prop. A friend I fly with has that engine with over 160 flights on it. It still pulls 15lbs thrust with a 16 x 6 MA prop so mine should pull a little more. Mine is a little heavy. The 108 isn't a light engine. Even with a 6v bat and the radio mounted as far back as possable I still had to ad about 3oz of lead to the tail. Mine came in at 9lbs 4oz on a postal scale. I havn't flown it yet but hope to this weekend. I bought this to replace a couple of Hanger 9 Pizzaz's I put in this year. I set my cg at 175mm for starters. I mixed in flapperons/spoilerons, and ran my elevators on two channels so I could mix in ailevators. I can't wait to see how it rolls with that mix turned on. I have never done that befor so I would be interested to hear from anyone who has.

RE: SEAGULL HARRIER 90...WHO'S GOT ONE?
Best bang for my hobby dollars so far as compared to other ARFs I have owned. I totally agree with everyone's inputs: excellent engineering, superb build, etc. I do have one question: my wing bolts are very sloppy that they feel like they are half thread size smaller than the nuts. Has this been a problem for anyone?

I just tried my wing bolts. They too seem pretty sloppy. There seems to be enough threads so I think they will hold up. Must of the force will be up and down on the wing rods but I will check them after every flight to make sure they are still tight. I will fly it for the first time tomorrow. I can't wait.

I can't wait to fly mine again too. It is windy and overcast here to the extreme. Oh well. I will have to be patient. I am getting more comfortable with mine, and all I can say is it is a lot of fun. Very responsive, and just a blast to bang around in the sky. Has no real bad habits that I can tell so far. Did notice it pulls to the canopy during knife edge flight. Anyone else notice this?

RE: SEAGULL HARRIER 90...WHO'S GOT ONE?
I just flew my Harrier for the first time today. Mine knife edged well with just a touch of aileron and elevator coupling. It would pull a little to the canopy and want to roll just a little. The best I have had so far for knife edge. Everything else it did great. The rudder is very effective and will turn the plane flat with little roll coupling unless you go to max deflection. I powered mine with an OS 1.08 FSR. Man was that over kill. Running a 16 x 4 wide prop it will go vertical forever at less then half throttle. I fly it at 1/3 tor less. One good thing, a tank of fuel lasts a long time I think a .91 FX would have been plenty for it but oh well, you can always throttle back !

RE: SEAGULL HARRIER 90...WHO'S GOT ONE?
You could put a 1.20 on it, and it would be fine. However I have no complaints with my 1.00 at all. Hovers around half throttle or less, with all the vertical you could want. Some guys like a rocket ship, but I don't think this plane was intended to fly that way. Mine likes to fly low and slow. And that's fine with me. Don't hesitate to put a 1.20 on it though, you will just want to pay closer attention to that left stick. Anyway you go with this one your going to have fun .

RE: SEAGULL HARRIER 90...WHO'S GOT ONE?
I know a lot of guys are using the the 16 x 4 apc but i always find my self going back to the 15 x 4 apc on the saito 1.00. much better throttle response and vert. and to me the plane feels more "locked in" when doing harriers. The satio seems to be happiest when its turning closer to 10,000 or a little better static. i have flown a couple of 1.00s on a razzel, u-can do, funtana 40, and now the harrier and always find the 15 x 4 apc better suited.

If you fly it with the 100 then put on a heavier engine you will notice the extra weight up front. It will not fly as well. Not that it will fly bad, just not as well. My 100 tore up a bearing and I replaced it with a YS. Now that its back from Horizon its going back in the plane. To me it made that much of a difference.

RE: Multi-Flight Update
Splais -
Thanks for the info. I too have a YS120FS that has sat unused for more than 10 years. My YS did not come with a muffler only a curved open pipe. Where did you get your connecting pipe and muffler? I picked up the Harrier 3D yesterday. It is nicely done.
My questions for you are around the fuel supply plumbing and the spinner. Looks like a TruTurn but what size is it? Looks like the Jet 2.25!QUOT! for a 120. On the plumbing looks like tie wraps - are they needed because of the pressure or just good practice. Do you have any close up pics of the arrangement? I am anxious to get my done now. I was going to use different hardware than supplied. I like the CH CF tubes, etc. or else the 4-40 rods.
Looks and sounds from the others on this thread like a nice flyer.
Thanks for the help to all those that contribute to this forum.
I also just got the JR9303 - nice radio - plan to use it on the Harrier.

RE: SEAGULL HARRIER 90...WHO'S GOT ONE?
Hey guy's, I am just about ready to fly mine. I am trying a thunder tiger 91 four stroke. the whole thing weighs only a tad over 7.5 pounds. My main concern is the CG. The manual states it should be 170 to 180 mm back from leading edge.... seems a bit to rearward to me. Is this CG correct, I am worried it is a miss-print. Thanks.

RE: SEAGULL HARRIER 90...WHO'S GOT ONE?
My CG is set up close to the middle of the recommended range of 170-180mm and it flies very smooth too. I plan to move mine back a bit farther, but it would be better to start at the forward recommendation first and move it back to suit you.

RE: SEAGULL HARRIER 90...WHO'S GOT ONE?
Thanks guys that answers my question, I will set it smack in the middle of the recommended CG range and we'll see how see goes .....can't wait .........Any one else using a Thunder Tiger 91 four stroke. I am told they are quite a good engine. All my other 4 strokes are Saito's...love them..
